There were many moments in my life where I wish I could disappear. You know? Maybe use, like, Harry Potter's cloak of invisibility and disappear. For example, I wanted to disappear when I first got my period during school and didn't know what to do until a girl handed me a pad during gym class. Another example would be now.

Partially, it was because I could feel the tension rolling off of Aiden when he saw Parker, and I didn't want to deal with that or witness that. Mostly, it was because I wanted to scream and run away when Kendra kissed the crap out of her fiancé.

Parker diverted his eyes to the ground, and I deliberately studied every feature of Parker's face. He had some stubble growing. His lips had a nice curve to it as he smiled a small smile. His eyelashes casted the smallest shadows on his cheeks. "I guess that answers the question." Parker murmured, and he sent his dazzling smile to me. I offered the weakest one back.

"Oh, Jordyn, Parker. I didn't see you there." Kendra's voice was acid. I decided on that. It was like acid from lemon juice, freshly squeezed. It made me want to cringe. Liar, liar, pants on fire. "What are you guys doing?"

I put my fake smile on as I turned to actually look at them. Kendra held Aiden's collar still, as if she was guarding her property. She sent me a look that said "this is mine, back off". My fists clenched. "Nothing. Just talking." I answered her in a sweet tone that felt like ice shards going down my throat. "Parker was telling me that we might go out later with everybody else. Would you like to join us?" Civil, I could have done. Could Kendra do it?

Kendra shook her head. "We are much too busy to do that. You are, too. Did that little brat, I mean, my sister not give you your schedule? You're supposed to be booked solid until seven this evening." Kendra stepped toward me with an attempt at a menacing look. Maybe if I were a little freshman, I would be cowering. However, I'd seen that look used to many times.

I was about to open my mouth for a retort, but Parker had beaten me to it. He leaned against the door way and met Kendra's icy glare. "If I recall correctly, she has a break from 2:47 to 3. Even sweatshop workers need a dose of sunlight." Parker commented with a shrug as if he hadn't just made a subtle jab at Kendra.

Normally, I would have expected Kendra to spit back at him, but instead, she smiled. "Then, yeah. I guess it wouldn't be bad if you take her out. It sounds great, anyway." Kendra was being suspiciously nice and amiable. The alarms are going off in my head. What was she thinking in that inflated head of hers? "Sorry, though, Aiden and I can't join you. We've got business to attend to." She informed us, but she wasn't sorry.

I studied her expression. I have grown wary of Kendra when she actually seemed that she didn't have a motive behind her words. She was always trying to make benefits for herself. What she had told Parker had no benefit for her. Not an obvious one. That made me highly worried about what she was cooking up. God knew it wasn't a good thing.

"And take as long as you guys want. I don't mind pushing some stuff to tomorrow." Kendra smiled as she looped her arm around Aiden's.

I thought the world had finally ended. The earth has turned upside down. It must have been a blue moon. Pigs have definitely flown. What the actual hell?

I stood up straighter. I felt a shiver as I looked at Kendra smiling. It wasn't any more real than her usual smile, but I felt more scared than usual. Her blue eyes shown with a glint of a plan, but I couldn't decipher it. Her lips were curved into a sneaky smirk. She seemed graceful and sly. I tilted my head as I spoke to her. "Thanks, Kendra, I guess." I was completely shocked.

"Well, please, be back before dinner. My mother wants your opinion on the curtains." Kendra told me. Sure, Mrs. Price does. I thought sarcastically. "Have fun, guys." She said as she started leading away. Aiden was looking at her curiously. He knew something was off, too.
