My pain had waned out a bit. I could actually leave my room without making sounds of an injured Mandarin duck that had been pricked by a porcupine. However, even after that, my life wasn’t exactly rainbows and fairy princesses that leave trails of pixie dust. Actual pain and the boredom were pretty much tied in the agonizing contest.

Before I tell you why I am comparing those two pains, I will inform you of my past week. I was smothered to death and I didn’t really mind because I couldn’t really move a muscle without pain and Mr. Fluffymunchkin, my beloved teddy bear. Alani and friends did the smothering.

I never really left the confines of my bed. Food was brought to me at whim, movies were played upon request, and cuddle buddies did their job when called. I lived the life of a spoiled rich brat for a good six days. Although experiencing Kendra’s childhood for five days was just a total blast (sarcasm), I was relieved when I woke up with little to none pain.

Now for what I was comparing two annoyances. I sat in a chair in the so-called reception room for Aiden and Kendra’s wedding. I was just sitting there. I was doing absolutely nothing. I was doing absolutely nothing while other people were bustling around. I was bored.

I had learned a bunch of things in the last four hours of my resurrection from the female monthly cycle. Alani had informed me of everyone slowly becoming busier and vacation no longer existed. People had things to do while I had jack shit to do.

One instance is the fact that Christian had a job that I had no idea about. That is why he’d been recently absent in my life from nine in the morning to three in the afternoon. I thought he and Lauren were just doing stuff or he was hanging out with friends. Turned out that he had more of a life than I did currently.

Christian was a journalist of some sort. He was stuck in a cubicle for about six hours everyday. He reported stuff and other things like that. I didn’t really know what he did. Lauren just mentioned that he was a journalist.

Speaking of Lauren, she was tending to her parents who have recently moved closer and relocated because they needed her and her brother. Apparently Lauren’s dad had some kind of leg problem that I didn’t understand because my medical knowledge stops at using Band-Aids. Lauren had been taking care of them for the last two weeks and I didn’t even notice. I was such a bad friend.

Alani had a job, too, but I was fully aware of it. She taught dance lessons at a nearby studio. She had been on winter break. Now a new year of classes had started and Alani started again yesterday. I knew about that. That made me more okay with my status of just an average friend.

Then here I am, sitting and watching potential caterers working on dishes to offer Kendra and I. Kendra’s not even here yet. Though, I am here fifteen minutes early because I had nothing better to do.

I observed the caterers’ speed and their food. All of it looked delicious and all of it looked super expensive just for one dish. It was great that I got to eat all of it for free. I would have died if I had to pay for this. Poor Aiden.

Aiden, I forgot to mention what Aiden had currently been doing. Besides being my cuddle buddy, he had taken up some work with his dad. He said something about papers and numbers and accounting and more papers. I understood him a little more because I was studying accounting. Although, I didn’t really get anything besides the accounting things.

I tried to get the attention of this one chef. He looked pretty confident. Respect. He was about to face a dragon and I felt bad for what I was about to do. The cook approached me with a smirk on his lips. I had nothing against him, let me just put that out there. “Hi.” I said to him in an all too innocent voice.
