The hunt had been brutal. Two wendigo being controlled (to some degree) by a witch that was getting the mojo to even be able to talk to a wendigo, from a demon. Sam was in bed where Dean had set him after he'd been K.Oed by the demon, but Sam was ok with just a scratch or two, courtesy of the wendigo. Dean was much worse. He had been a chew toy for the first wendigo, the witch had sliced him with a knife, and the demon had managed to shoot him in the meat of his arm.A flutter whispered deans way and a faint wind rustled the curtains of the hotel room. Dean already knew who it was as he turned to face Castiel. "Nice timing buddy." He was too tired to actually add any vehemence to his comment as Cas simply stated
"You look terrible"
"Thanks for the update captain obvious. Any way you could help out?" Cas strode over and looked at Dean who had begun to clean out his knife wounds. His shirt had been shredded so badly he didn't really have to take it off to touch deans fevered skin and heal his wounds. Wait... Fevered? Now that all the blood was gone Dean looked too pale, his usual strong demeanor looked pale and weakened.
"Uh.. Cas I think her knife... The knife was. Poisoned" he fell forward and the angel caught his tall frame. Dammit.
"Sam" Cas woke the moose and healed his mild concussion with a touch on the forehead. "Dean has been poisoned, where was the witches hideout?" Sam, barely awake, looked confused and them horrified
"Oh crap. It's the house outside town, next to the highway and it's in the barn out back"
"We're going back" and with that whisked Dean, and Sam away to the barn.
~~~~~~~~~~***~~~~~~~~~~
"Why can't you just mojo it out of him?" Sam asked as he searched for the extremely rare plant used to poison his brother."She warded it against my kind. If I had been able to heal him the poison would have been nullified while I healed his exterior wounds as well" Cas held Dean up and kept the toxic mix at bay, he couldn't stop it completely and with each passing minute it got closer and closer to deans heart. "Sam. Please hurry. I'm losing him." He felt an unusual feeling... Desperation, Anna had told him feeling got worse, it did. This was horrible, watching Dean slowly die from a slow poison creeping through his blood. It dawned on him that maybe he felt more than just friendship towards Dean. No, not the time to ponder human emotions.
"Got it!" Sam held up a dried plant that looked more like a shoestring than a remedy. "How do we give him the antidote?"
"Crush it up and put it in a glass of water. Sam hurry! He's stopped breathing!" Cas was using all his power to keep Dean alive but he couldn't do it once his heart stopped.. Slower, slower...
"Here!" A glass full of clouded water was thrust into Cas's hands and he opened deans mouth pouring in the remedy. It went down his throat and... Nothing, please Dean. Breathe Castiel begged with his thoughts.
"No. No Dean wake up!" Sam soured shaking his brother. He couldn't loose him again, not after everything, not after the mystery spot. Sam's shaking caused a rattling breath from Dean and he opened his eyes.
"Sammy? Cas? What's ..." He looked around, exhausted from the toxins being cleaned out.
"It's ok Dean. The witch had warded a poison against Cas and you were stabbed with a knife that was soaked in it."
"Thanks Cas.... I owe you one" he gave the angel a shaky grin and his head fell, unconscious.
Cas zapped the trio back to the hotel and told Sam to get some rest. As he fell asleep Cas watched them both quietly. He then went to the side of deans bed, and sat down. He whispered in the sleeping hunters ear "I'm so glad that you are alive. I will never let you or Sam die ever again, you will be protected. As long as I am living, I will be your guardian angel Dean. I swear."
