Dammit, those winged ass monkeys had gotten the jump on him. HIM Dean f**king Winchester! He knew Sammy was in here too, wherever "here" was they had managed to yell themselves hoarse before their captors had beaten them into unconsciousness. He overheard their captors talking about leverage.. Bait. No they were trying to get to Cas! Crap this couldn't happen, if Cas got hurt trying to protect him he'd never forgive himself. An angel entered the room as grinned at deans bloodied face "time to have some fun, Winchester" as he was unshackled and led into a car along with his brother.

They took Dean. They had the audacity to steal the two people most precious to him on heaven or earth and now they would pay. Castiel waited at the drop off point, he had been contacted by his brethren and told of the Winchester's... Situation. Now that Dean and Sam would be near him he would attempt to take the boys and run without giving himself up. Fingering his blade he looked into the underbrush surrounding the road, Balthazar was waiting to help ambush the others once they arrived, Castiel wasn't stupid enough to go into this all alone. An old car drifted to a stop at the crossroads, and three angels exited. Two held Sam and Dean, Sam looked only a bit worse for wear but deans state sent fire though Cas's veins. He had been beaten to a pulp, his full lips split down the middle, a bruise swelling his right eye closed, and various cuts throughout his face. "Dean! Sam!" He wished he could go to them but this wouldn't be that easy.

"Hello Castiel. I know that this is the last situation you would want to be in but it is nice to see an old face"

"Sabrina" he had always known she would be one to fall.

"You're not happy to see me? Well I guess not considering how I've hurt your two favorite pets..." She stroked Sam's cheek "but now it's time to do business. Come with us and let us exact the justice due upon you decreed by Raphael, or I'll kill Sam and then Dean. Very. Slowly." She ended by using a nail to slice deans collar and a thin rivulet of blood added onto Cas' internal inferno.

"Sabrina." He stepped closer, she retreated a small bit, intimidated "I am not so foolish as to play by your rules" his blade appeared from his coat sleeve and Balthazar erupted from the side of the road. He managed to grab Sam and stab his guard but Cas was engaged in a fierce dual with Sabrina. "Take Sam and run!" He gritted his teeth as he blocked and jabbed with his knife. Balthazar vanished with Sam, looking desperately at his brother. After a few more brief battle filled moments Sabrina died in a flash of white light, wings splayed on the ground but as Cas turned the other angel plunged his blade into Dean.

The animal had no time to draw a second breath as Cas's blade flew into the others chest. Dean crumpled, but thankfully not dead. The blade had stabbed into the side of his torso and  Cas felt a huge sense of relief as he felt deans breath as they flew away.

Dean awoke in his room. His side didn't hurt anymore and he saw Cas standing next to his bed, eyes full of worry.

"Where's Sam?"

"He's being tended to by Balthazar. How are you Dean?" His voice betrayed relief at deans ability to speak.

"I've been better. I'm sorry, I wanted to warn you about them. Tell you not to come"

"No! Dean even if you had told me I would've come" he stepped closer to deans side "I will always come for you" he had slowly leaned down and was a few inches away from Dean. They might as well be miles, Dean never showed him any interest. They were friends, nothing more...

Dean leaned up into Castiel's lips and after pulling away from their kiss murmured "and I'll always be there for you too"
