It wasn't like before. Before he felt emotion, pain, happiness, guilt. Now.... Now he felt nothing but pure darkness, and Dean liked it. Sure Sammy boy and castiel might hunt him down one day, but until then he was going to have so much fun.

Cas POVIt had been a couple of days since I found out about Dean becoming a demon. Crowley, it undoubtably was that miserly "king of hell" that convinced Dean to take the mark of Cain and raise him as a demon. I was on my way back to the bunker, Sam had called and I was eager to help locate Dean and cure him before he did something truly regrettable. Hannah rode beside me in a tense silence, it was getting rather awkward and I finally asked "is something bothering you Hannah?" She is a good angel but it doesn't feel as right traveling with someone who is not a Winchester, or who is not Dean.
"Castiel I'm worried about tracking down Dean" she looked at me "you seem to be prioritizing him over the mission."
"Hannah you've been on earth for a short time so I don't expect you to understand. But Dean Winchester is my mission" she gave me a confused glance " it was my duty to raise him but ever since then... I feel a more profound bond each day."
"Isn't that what the humans call 'love'?" Good point.
"I don't know what to do about emotions anymore" I sigh "all I know is that Dean comes before... A lot of things" I didn't want to discourage her in our mission, but really Dean comes before everything to me.
We finally pulled up to the bunker and it felt ominous. I parked the car and ran inside just in time to see Sam racing into a hallway and Dean, my Winchester, follow at a casual gait with a hammer. I followed quietly and suddenly he sprinted down a hall. I heard the sound of plaster being crushed and then Dean growled "Go on... Do it"
I reached the boys and saw Sam with the demon blade held to deans throat. He saw me behind his brother and then looked at Dean and shook his head, dropping the knife. As Dean came in for the kill I grabbed him, holding him back as he let out a demonic roar.
"It's over Dean, it's over" I sincerely hope what I said was true.

The last dose of purified blood was delivered to Dean and he raised his head to look at us. The black that covered his eyes faded into the deep green that I have come to cherish. After a moment of complete silence he spoke, "you look worried fellas" with a halfhearted attempt at a grin."Welcome back Dean" Sam smiled. We took him out of his chains and Sam walked ahead. Presumably to drink himself halfway to oblivion due to the stresses of the past few days. Dean looked weak and as he walked he stumbled and I caught him as he fell to the floor.
"Th-thanks Cas" he said and I knew he couldn't take much more.
"Where is your room?"
"I'm not a wuss I can walk" as he attempted to stand again he proceeded to fall before he got completely vertical.
"No, Dean you can't. I want to help you. I wish I could have sooner" I carried him to his room and laid him on the bed. I want to stay so badly but I can't keep Hannah waiting too much longer. I brush a few stray hairs from his face that looks peacefully asleep and turn to leave.
"By the way" Dean murmurs "you did save me Cas" he opens his eyes and looks at me "you save me... Every day" he looks a bit nervous at my response but I turn back with a smile.
"Don't you remember Dean?"
"Remember what?"
"We have a profound bond" he grins and I leave shutting the door behind me.
