I continued to stare at her, my heart slamming against my chest. "Coma?" I whispered.

She nodded sadly before hugging me, "I know we've been horrible to you, I am so so sorry. You're my little sister, I should have never done that. I love you, lil sis. I swear, I'll make it up to you." she whispered, tightening her hug.

I returned the hug, knowing we both needed this with this whole ordeal we're going through. I had to fight back the urge to throw her out the window though. When we parted she lead me to the infirmary where he was staying; she explained to me that the silver dagger had wolfsbane and nightshade mixed into it. Nightshade is a great healing herb, when it's alone. But when it's mixed with wolfsbane or silver it only makes those poisons stronger, and in this case, it's very bad.

So, because of the strong substances, it gave our father severe silver and wolfsbane poisoning. The good news is, he should survive it since they're attacking it with vampire venom. Even so, no one knows when he'll even wake up. I knew he kind of deserved this for how he treated me, his own daughter, but I'm still kind at heart. No matter how much I dislike my father, he's still my father. Even so, the bitter side of me is enjoying this a tad bit too much.

Hades quietly followed behind us, scanning the halls and always getting distracted from the paintings. I chuckled, I guess my mate loves art. When we finally reached the infirmary, which took up half the packhouse, we walked in. She quickly guided me to his room, swinging the door open once we reach it.

I gasp when I see my mother sitting beside his bed, holding his hand and running her fingers through his hair. She snaps her head up at the sound I just made and her eyes well up with tears. She sprints over to me and drags me into a hug, kissing my cheek and apologizing over and over again. I cried along with her, hugging her tightly, like my life depended on it. When we were done she explained to me that she left because of who my father killed.

"I had to find his brother and son before they attacked your father, I couldn't let them kill him. I love him too much." she admitted. "However, that does not mean he's completely free from punishment for what he did to you. It was his wolf and he has no control over him sometimes, but still, part of that was his anger and betrayal from me leaving him."

I swallowed, "So...when he wakes up...he'll be normal?"

A grave look washed over my mother's face, "No...your father will probably not talk, won't eat or drink, and will lock himself away. He always does this and every time it only gets worse. He's a mess, but he's my mess and I love him either way. But that's the mate-bond doing its work. I keep going back and forth between rejecting him, punishing him, or killing him."

"I understand, but how in the world will you get him out of it?"

She shrugged, "I have to be patient with him." she then noticed Hades after a few moments. "Who is he?"

I looked at him to see him awkwardly standing there and glaring at a fly. In the blink of an eye he growled and killed it before looking at me.

"What?" he asked.

I laughed, "Oh, that would be my second chance mate, Alpha Hades. I didn't even know second chances existed."

"They don't." my mother stated. "You were born to have two mates, you have to chose though."

"I already did, he rejected me anyways."

"Ah, Andrew, huh?"

"How did you know?"

"Well, your sister told me and right after I dragged him by his hair and threw him out the window. He was fine, landed on top of his brother and some other warrior." she explained, waving it off like it was nothing.

She then narrowed her eyes, "Speaking of windows...you jumped out a damn window!? I taught you better than that; you should have kicked your father in the balls! But seriously, you should have ran away earlier. Your father's wolf is a feral wolf which makes him dangerous. He could have killed you."

"I panicked, you can't exactly blame me."

"Still, should have kicked him in the balls. I'm going to do that once he's healed...and I know. If it wasn't for me leaving then this wouldn't have happened. He killed my father...I guess then, I was being selfish. But what happened, happened. I'm seriously going to beat the crap out of your father though or put him in the dungeon for goddess knows how long."

"You're evil."

She shrugged, "He was a bastard, but I love him, unfortunately. He's my messed up...weird...bastard mate."

"That sounds lovely."

"It is such a lovely nickname for him, it fits too." she laughed.

For the rest of the day I spent my time with my mother and even got her talking to Hades. It took him a bit to relax, saying he's not use to people wanting to speak to him. That only made me even more curious about his past. Did people really abandon him?

After a while  we decided to leave, needing to get home and go to bed. I was exhausted, it has been one hell of a day. As we were walking through the forest I held Hades' hand and admired the beautiful night scene.

"Hades?" I spoke.

"Yeah?" he chirped, looking over.

I frowned, "Did people really abandon you?"

He was quiet for a moment before responding, "Yes."

"Why?"

"I'm different." he shrugged. "I guess they didn't like that. They also feared me..."

"Did it hurt?"

"What?"

"When they stopped...you know...talking to you? Being there for you?"

He thought for a minute before sighing, "Honestly, yes, I locked myself in my room for weeks. Then, my uncle called and told me to ignore them. So, I did, and a year later...I was forced into the Alpha position."

I stared at him, wide-eyed. "At nine years old?"

He nodded, "Not much of a childhood, huh?"

"No." I whispered, looking away.

"I guess I deserve it though, I am a monster after all." he whispered, his voice broken.

I looked at him, "You're not a monster."

"Yes, I am. Just remember what I did to you. I almost killed you."

I stopped walking and stared at him, "Hades, you-

"No! Please, just stop lying! You feared me, Celina! I should be feared, I lose control of my anger and kill! I-I hurt innocent people because I'm fucked up! I shouldn't even be alive, my parents should be...I should have died in that accident. Not them. They were amazing Alphas, but me? I couldn't go a day without the Elders picking on me, telling me I'm doing this and that wrong. The only person who didn't fear me was my uncle and that's because he never saw me!

That woman who I loved when I shouldn't have....she....she got people to capture me when I was sixteen. They beat me with sticks and whips; they would constantly tease me. They thought they were 'helping' me, but they weren't. They blamed me for my parents' death.

They would force me into shifting and then inject me with wolfsbane so it would slowly stop the shift and I would shift back. It hurt like hell, but they liked that. It hurts every damn day to shift, it's like shifting for the first time. It goes by fast, but it hurts. And I deserve it, all of it."  he ranted, tears streaming down his face.

"So...why do you stay?" he whimpered.
