I stared at him for a few seconds, trying to process all of this information. His eyes were filled to the brim with pain, fear, and shame. My heart sank as he looked so...broken. I gently cupped his face, wiping his tears away with my thumbs. I smiled softly, just staring into his eyes.
"I stay because I want to, not because of the mate-bond, if that is what you're thinking. I stay because I love you." I murmured, making sure he could see the honesty in my eyes. "But, I need to be able to trust you. Right after rejecting me you slept with another woman; mate or not, that's still cheating. I didn't accept your rejection, so we were still mates."
He swallowed, "I slept with someone else because I...I was trying to get you to accept my rejection. Being with me will only cause you pain." He admitted.
I sighed, "I'm willing to take that risk, Hades."
He stared at me, mixed emotions swarming in his eyes. I knew he was trying to think of excuses as to why I wanted to stay. He was unsure, nervous, and frightened of fully accepting me. I know what it feels like to be unwanted, and goddess does it hurt.
He swallowed, "I'm sorry for...ranting." He whispered while looking down.
I noticed a few more tears drip onto the soft soil beneath us, I frowned. I wrapped my arms around him and brought him closer, gently running my fingers through his hair.
I do still feel betrayal from him technically cheating on me, but I was torn. I can't make him really regret it without causing another mental breakdown. I don't want to put him through more pain, to make him truly feel unwanted.
I clenched my jaw, that was my original plan. To make him jealous, to see me with other guys. Not kissing or anything, just hanging out.
I bit my lip, I mean, that wouldn't be horrible. I shook the thoughts from my head. I shouldn't be thinking like this while he's practically sobbing in my arms.
"Come on, let's get back to the house and go to bed." I soothed, ushering him up.
He slowly walked beside me, looking completely drained. We held hands tightly, afraid of losing one another. The sparks coursed through my arm, sending a sense of safety and warmth over me.
I glanced at him, my heart sinking at the sorrowful look covering his features. When we finally reached the pack house I opened the door and walked him inside.
"Um...who are you? And why are you with him? He's dangerous!" Someone suddenly shrieked.
I sighed and looked up, narrowing my eyes at a woman with dirty blonde hair.
Her brown eyes were staring at us in shock.
I rolled my eyes, "He's my mate and he's not dangerous. He's broken." I stated, shoving past her.
She stood there for a few moments before falling in step with us.
"So, you're his mate?" She asked, looking at me with judging eyes.
I refused to look at her as we continued our walk upstairs. "Yes." I spoke, my voice filled with annoyance.
She sighed, "Well, I'm warning you, he's a dangerous man."
"I'm sorry, but who the hell are you?" I snapped, glaring at her.
She seemed stunned by my anger, but quickly composed herself. "Name is Amelia, I'm the woman he used to have a crush on when we were teens."
I froze, anger boiling within my chest. "Oh."
I seriously want to kill her as I remembered what Hades said.
"Yeah, I tried helping him. My friends and I, but he managed to escape. Then he became Alpha and I ended up finding my mate in the form of Alpha Brandon." She continued. "Such a handsome man, we have two sons you know? Twins. I'm also four weeks pregnant!"
"Well, congratulations. Listen, I'd love to finish this conversations with you..." Not really. "But he's exhausted and so am I. Good night."
Amelia pouted "Alright, good night. I probably won't see you until we have an Alpha meeting in a month or two. I'm leaving in twenty minutes, but it was nice meeting you, Luna."
I forced a smile, "It was a pleasure meeting you."

She nodded before skipping down the hall, disappearing as she turned left.
I let out a sigh of relief, closing our door behind me. I focused myself on Hades and dragged him to the bed.
He furrowed his eyebrows, "Why am I on the bed? You're supposed to be sleeping here and I'm supposed to be on the couch." He frowned.
I smiled gently, kissing his forehead. "Go to sleep, you're sleeping in the bed tonight."
I was about to walk away when he grabbed my wrist, "Please, just...at least stay beside me." He pleaded.
I nodded, "Alright."

As we laid beside each other I turned and wrapped my arms around him, pulling him close. I know it's usually the male who does this, but right now he needs comfort. And I feel better, knowing he's right here.
I rested my head against him.
"You're a difficult guy, Hades, but I won't leave you. Not now, not ever." I whispered before falling into oblivion.
