You walked with Gally across The Glade to the campfire. A new Greenie had arrived in The Box today. From what you could tell, he was alright. He wasn't going to be a Runner, and you guessed he'd end up being a Track Hoe.
When you arrived at the party of sorts, there was already a fight pit that started without Gally's help. It caught his eye, however, and he touched your arm.
"I'm going to go over there. You'll be okay?" Gally asked.
You nodded and he went to join the group. Who were you to deny him to let off steam? You knew he needed some way to do it.
You watched as Thomas walked over. He was smiling with some of Gally's recipe in his hands. He was definitely drunk, you could smell the alcohol on his breath.
"Hey!" Thomas grinned and you smiled.
"Hi, Thomas." You greeted him.
"You look pretty tonight. Dressing up for the Greenie?" Thomas flirted. You ignored it. He was just drunk.
"Very funny. Maybe you should sit down.." You suggested, steadying him with both hands.
Thomas just laughed a little and started leaning in closer to you. Your eyes widened, standing frozen there.
"Hey!" Someone shouted, and before you knew it Thomas was on the ground.
"Gal!" You exclaimed, pulling him away before he hit Thomas again. "Calm down!"
"I saw him flirting with you! That Slinthead almost kissed you!" Gally protested, his voice sounded angry.
"He's just drunk, Gally! Thomas didn't know what he was doing." You argued back.
"Oh, so you're okay with it?" Gally raised his eyebrows.
"What? No, that's not what I-" You cut yourself off. "Gally, you just need to calm down. It's alright. I'm not going to go run off with Thomas. You know that."
You brought your hand up and ran your fingers through the hair at the back of his neck. Almost instantly you felt him relax his tense muscles. It worked every time, you knew all of Gally's soft spots.
"Sorry." Gally murmured, looking at the ground.
You chuckled a little.
"Just apologize to Thomas when he's sober."
