That Should Be Me

I'm just a girl dressed in red
I'm not anything near Justin Bieber
But he was sure right when he said
"That should be me!" on my music player

That should be me, holding your hand
But when I looked down, my hand held nothing
That should be me you took to your Wonderland
But now I know, I'll never be your everything

That should be me, sitting by your side
But I'm all alone, in an empty old chair
That should be me, with you on your first bus ride
But it wasn't me, she was already there

That should be me, you write love letters to
But all I ever get from my mail is the bill
That should be me, saying I do
You always chose her, but boy I love you still

The song hurts me with its every lyric
It tells me everything that I feel and I should feel
This is the magic of every music
Tells you the pain you could never really heal
