Even Though

You tap my back to comfort me
You say some jokes when I get sad
You are my best laughing buddy
The greatest friend I ever had

We swore each other to stay good friends
Nobody is allowed to fall
But a promise can be bent
If love would get to conquer all

Dear best friend, I'm so sorry
I broke our promise, I fell for you
Just your smile makes me happy
But you never had a clue

You have her wrapped with love and joy
And she's the sweetest girl in town
She's not a game, she's not a toy
She's your girl that banishes your frown

I plan to keep my love a secret
It's best if you will never know
I'm just glad that we had met
Even though you love her so
