Chapter 16

Regina

I'm the only one still awake. Sophia's asleep, her head lying on my hip and Henry's sleeping on my shoulder. I'm the only one who won't drift into sleep and I watch Lilo and Stitch pretty much everyday thanks to Sophia!

A soft knocking on the door grabs my attention. I turn my head carefully to the door to see Snow standing there, a crying Ella in her arms.

"Hey" I whisper, frowning slightly

"Can you come here please?" she whispers back

I carefully move Henry's head from my shoulder and onto the pillow and carry Sophia to her crib, placing her in there gently. Then I head over to Snow.

"What's wrong?" I ask

"I can't get her to settle" she says, looking at a squirming and crying Ella

"Here, let me" I offer, holding out my arms

She hands her over to me and I bounce her gently. She stops crying straight away and her eyes start to close slowly as I continue to rock her from side to side.

"How did you do that?" she asks

"You have to be calm to calm the baby down" I shrug

"That's the most useful thing I've learnt from Sophia's constant screaming in the middle of the night" I laugh

"Thank you" she nods

"No problem" I smile

"Are you okay?" Snow asks

"Yeah I'm fine, why do you ask?" I frown

"It's just this morning, when you were saying goodbye to Robin, you looked worried and you look upset now" she explains

"I'm fine; I'm just worried about him. He hasn't been the same since Sophia's birthday party. I get that Sophia's birthday is a difficult day for him because his daughter went missing and I know he's upset but when I ask him about it, he just won't talk to me and I don't know how to comfort him" I sigh

"Regina, it's hard for him, I know that you know that, but this is something you have to get through together. Just try and talk to him, just sit him down and talk him" she says, holding my hand

"Easier said than done" I shrug

"I know, but you'll do it, you'll work it out, you just need to have hope" she smiles reassuringly

"That's another quarter for the hope commission" I giggle

Ella starts to squirm in my arms, her eyes opening slowly. I rock her again soothingly and she falls back to sleep instantly.

"Here let me take her now, I'll take her to her crib" Snow offers, taking Ella from me

"Thank you" I smile

"I'll see you later, make sure you talk to him" she smiles

"I will" I nod

She smiles and shuts the door quietly behind her
