Chapter 16
I looked around frantically but I couldn’t find it. It probably already sunk down deep in the lake where I couldn’t get it.
“Are you okay Olivia?” Alex asked me.
I pulled off my best fake smile.
“Yeah, I’m fine, besides the fact that I’m soaking wet,” I said and glared at Rob.
“Doesn’t feel nice does it?” he asked with a laugh.
I stuck my tongue out at him and kept searching the surface of the lake. I couldn’t see anything.
“Alex have you seen my watch?” I asked. He shook his head.
“Why? Did it fall in the water?”
“I think so, I can’t find it,” I answered nervously.
“Well, don’t worry we will buy you a new one,” he smiled.
But it’s not replaceable…

“Rob, I’m going to kill you for this one day you know that right?” I asked him as I dried myself off with a towel.
“A girl can’t kill a guy,” he laughed.
“A guy can’t hit a girl,” I smirked.
“Whatever,” he smiled and shook his head then went back to drying himself off with the towel. He was kind of cute in a way. I could kind of see how Leslie liked him, but I didn’t like him that way… right?
Everyone had gone off to dinner, but Rob and I weren’t hungry so I stayed at the campsite with him. It was already really dark outside. I was sitting outside my tent looking at the stars while drying my hair with a towel.
Rob was sitting right next to me.
“On a scale of 1 to 10 how much do you like Alex?” Rob asked out of nowhere.
“1,000,000,” I answered right away.
“Wow, you’ve got it bad,” he laughed.
“It’s kind of weird. That’s what everyone says,” I smiled.
“Well, it’s too bad he has a girlfriend,” Rob sighed.
Not for long…
“Yeah, too bad,” I said sadly.
“But, I’m single,” he muttered.
He caught me off guard. He said he was single. Does that mean he likes me?
“Wha-?” I asked but he interrupted me.
“Look, I have liked you ever since I first saw you okay, I can’t keep hiding it, and I know you like Alex, so go ahead, stop being friends with me because it’s too awkward, ok, I don’t care, I just had to get that out,” he said quickly.
My mouth gaped open. Robert… liked me. I couldn’t help smiling. Someone actually likes me.
“We can still be friends Rob, I’ll always be your friend,” I reassured him and then I hugged him. He hugged me back almost instantly.
“It’s just hard watching the girl you like fall in love with someone else,” he said sadly. I wanted to start crying for him right now. Part of me wanted to actually like him. I think a part of me did…
But my heart belonged to Alex.
“I know how it feels,” I whispered miserably.
“I guess we have something in common don’t we?” he asked. I nodded even though I knew he couldn’t see me because it was too dark.
“Rob?” I asked.
“Yes?”
“Well, if it makes any sense, I like you too, but I like Alex more. I just wanted you to know that,” I whispered to him and I could practically feel his smile.
Then we heard footsteps indicating that they were back. I was kind of sad that this moment was over but I was glad Alex was back.
“Oh my gosh, you should have seen what Alex did Olivia!” Austin laughed and sat between Rob and I.
“What’d he do?” I asked and laughed a little because Austin was practically dying of laughter.
“He kissed a squirrell,” Tyler said also dying of laughter.
“Wow smooth Alex,” I laughed. Even at night you could tell he was blushing.
“What have you two been doing?” Tyler asked with a smirk.
Rob and I shared a look.
“We were just talking,” he mumbled.
“Ooh about what? Your wedding plans?” Alex laughed.
“Are you guys like a thing now?” Austin asked.
“No guys why would you think that? We said we were just talking!” I yelled.
“Whatever, you guys would look good together,” Alex said with a wink then walked off. That kind of hurt. He didn’t have any jealousy in his voice or anything.
“We should get to bed guys,” Austin suggested and we all got into our tents not caring that we were still in our pajamas. I yawned and crawled into my sleeping bag and almost instantly started snoring. I groaned. I would never get sleep.
