Chapter Eighteen: Look beyond

Kumatok muna ng tatlong beses si Enzo bago binuksan ang pintuan ng kwarto ng kanyang kapatid na si Lizzy. Sila lang dalawa ang nasa bahay since his twin went with their Mother and their Father had business to attend to. Binigyan naman niya ng day-off ang mga kasambahay nila since both of them won't need anything that much. Pabor rin naman iyon sa kanila.

Matagal-tagal na rin niyang hindi napasok ang kwarto ng kapatid since he's always in his room whenever he's at home. Minsan naman ay sa kwarto ng kanyang kambal. Ang una niyang nakita ay ang mga nagkalat na papel sa lapag at ang lukot na carpet na para bang ginulungan ng kung ano.

"Lizzy?"

"I'm here..." her soft voice called back.

He found his little sister on the floor, a pencil and notebook in hand, scribbling something. The lower part of her body was under the bed.

"What are you drawing and why are you positioned like that?" Hindi na niya maiwasang hindi ngumiti.

"It's warm here, it keeps me focused..." dahan-dahan nitong ibinaba ang notebook at tinignan siya."Anong kailangan mo, Kuya?"

Instead of answering her question tumungo siya sa study table nito because something got his attention. There were a lot of pin-ups on her wall. Drawings of different kinds of weapons, weapons he hasn't seen before. It was very detailed, from the screw to the kind of metal to use. There were also scattered papers on the wooden table probably rejected drawings. Pinulot niya ang isa at binuksan iyon. It was a drawing of a lasso but there was a big X mark on it.

"This is pretty cool, bakit mo tinapon ito?" Pinakita niya sa kapatid ang drawing at ngumuso naman ito agad.

"It won't work in the way I want it to..." Iling nito at tumayo na. Lumapit ito sa kanya at kinuha ang drawing. "It's supposed to be an electric lasso. I can make the base and the whole weapon itself but how can I make electric currents come out whenever I whip it? Sumuko ako, Kuya. Halos ilang linggo ko nang iniisip 'yan. I have prototypes na nga but it just won't... work."

"Did your try using magic?"

Umuling muli ito. "That's the whole point of making all of this," she gestured to the wall full of pin-ups "Gusto ko walang involved na magic. Gusto ko hand-made lahat."

Napansin na niya ito noon pa sa kapatid. Lizzy had a knack of creating stuff out of nothing. Hindi na niya nasundan ang mga ginagawa nito when he started studying at SA dahil tuwing weekends, Holidays, at Summer nalang sila nagkakasama. Parehas rin lang naman silang nasa kwarto kapag nasa bahay. Hindi lang niya naisip na pag iinterisan nito ang paggawa ng mga weapons. It's kind of weird for a young girl but then again they grew up being around Hunters and Protectors, seeing training sessions were part of their everyday life. He vividly remember seeing a spark in Lizzy's eyes whenever they watch a match together. May mga times na nanunuod sila whenever the Protectors have to try out different weapons siguro ay doon nagsimula ang interes ng kanyang kapatid.

"Have you tried talking to Zeus?"

"What? Why Kuya Zeus?" Kunot noo nitong tanong.

"May I remind you that he controls lighting and lighting is---"

"Electric!" Lumiwanag ang mukha nito. "Oo nga no! Bakita ba hindi ko siya naisip agad? Oh my god Kuya my lasso will finally work!"

"Let's go talk to him first" He draped his arm over her shoulder and squeezed it. Masaya siya sa nakikitang reaction nito ngayon. At least one of his sisters is happy.
