Chapter 8

Ethan's PoV

I was planning to take her to one of my favourite spots. It was the spot which my dad took my mum to before he proposed. It was also the spot which I was taken to every year on my birthday. It had an amazing view and it looked even better during sunsets, sunrises and at the dark with the twinkling stars and bright moon. It was at the top of a cliff that had a breathtaking view of the land before us. It's one of these places where you could find peace and just relax. It's the place I came to left loose after the incident.

Flashback

It all started around mid February. About 7 months ago.
I was walking back from school like any other day. It's supposed to nearly be Spring but you never really know what the weather will be so its been icy and cold. I don't know why they didn't cancel school. All this ice is a hazard. It also makes it harder for the warriors in area/group to fight well enough against the unwanted. Those are naturals that have been kicked out of their groups, have left their groups or if they've been a threat to others in the group.

I finally made it home. Or what used to be of it. My home was on fire. I dropped my school bag and stood close to what used to be of my house. I sniffed around for my parents. My ears perked up as I tried to hear their calls. Nothing. I did however smell something else. This isn't a sent I recognise. I quietly stepped towards the door. It looks like the fire started from the second floor. I just hope my parents either aren't home or are downstairs.

I walked inside. It was all grey and smoky. This made it harder to see. Good thing I'm a natural or i wouldn't be able to see shit. I went upstairs first whilst calling their name just to make sure they weren't up there. I tried my hardest to sniff either of my parents' scents but the smoke was just too strong. I did however smell petrol. I sniffed harder to confirm the scent. Yes it was petrol. This means that this fire was set up. It was done purposely. I pulled out my phone and called the King of naturals. I told him that my house was on fire. I also told him that the fire was a sabotage. He told me to call the fire department and that once the fire is out, he would come and check the scene out alongside trackers.

Before I had a chance to call the fire department, I heard a bang from downstairs. I rushed downstairs thinking it would be my parents. Guess I was kind of right. It was my parents in the kitchen but they weren't alone. With them was an unwanted I'm guessing. I couldn't see my face since his back was to me but I could tell from the foul smell. He was also wearing a mask so even if I did see his face I wouldn't know who it was. I looked around to figure out where the bang had come from. There was a hole in the ceiling. The guy also had a gun.

A gun! I moved out from behind the door which is where I was hiding getting closer to the kitchen with every step. He had my parents trapped. I hid closer to the kitchen. I could hear the pleas of my mother for the unwanted to spare them but also the threats of my father. The unwanted just cackled an evil laugh. I knew I had to do something. I did the only thing I could do. I attacked. I had enough training to be able to defend others and myself. Hopefully this unwanted won't be too hard. I punched him in the face. That took him back a little and then I helped my parents.

My mum had even more fear in her eyes when she saw me. The one thing she said and repeated over and over again will always be in my mind. 'Run. You have to run. Go leave us.' The unwanted obviously heard this so he shot my mum in the leg. This made my dad mad so he lunged for the unwanted. As my dad fought with the unwanted, my mum repeated the words again. Then we heard the gunshot followed by a thud. My dad was dead. My mum repeated the words again before lunging for the gun in the hand of the unwanted tears streaming down her face. She repeated the words as she cried. I couldn't just leave my mum like this. Once she had enough of my disobedience and demands to stay she let out all her angry and told me for the last time to run and leave.

That's what I did. I left but not before hearing the final gunshot that echoed through my now burnt house.

End of flashback

Since then I have been more dangerous. I've killed unwanted but not unless needed. I've done the most dangerous and feared. Killing an unwanted isn't easy. That's why some find me dangerous.
I looked back at Rachael. I bet she was figuring out where we were going. Soon enough we reached the spot. I heard her say wow. I knew she'd love it. "Ethan it's amazing." She said
I gave her a small smile. She sensed something was up. "What's wrong?" She asked.
I took a deep breath. I know we both have secrets and Im going to tell you my deepest one." I replied. We sat down on a boulder. She nodded her head in a way of saying she's ready.

So I told her. As I went through the memory, I felt her move closer to me as a sign of comfort. I was grateful. Once I was finished I looked into her eyes to see a sign of hatred for what happened and what I've become but instead I saw bright green eyes with hints of blue around the outside shining at me. She was feeling sympathy. I took that as my chance. "Rachael I have something for you."
She looked back at me with confusion. That's when I pulled out the necklace. I heard her gasp and looked up to see her eyes tearing up. She picked up the bit with the crown heart. "What does it mean?" She asked.
"The heart means you're my soulmate and the crown means you're the future queen of all naturals." I replied.
She hugged me and said "thank you I love it."
"You're welcome." I replied.
Then we got comfortable and looked out onto the scenery. Then Rachael spoke "Ethan can I ask you a question?" I nodded my head in reply not faking my eyes off the scenery. "Are your parents your weakness?" She asked. Her question took my by surprise. "No. You are." I replied. Cheesy I know but it made her blush and she looks cute when she blushes. Suddenly my phone rings kind of ruining the moment.
"Hello?"
"Ethan I need you and Rachel back at the house right now." Rachael's dad said before hanging up.

I stood up and held out my hand for Rachel. "Your dad wants us back at the house." I said. She nodded her head. We then walked to the car and drove off.

Anonymous PoV

I watched them get out of the car. I was just around hunting for some food. Then I heard them. I hid behind trees and bushes. Unfortunately I couldn't see their faces. The guy gave this girl a necklace and she went mental over it screaming her head off. Well not really. But aww they're having s stupid lovey dovey moment. Ugh makes me want to puke. Hmm looks like I've got some people to keep my eye on. Forget food I've got to go to the boss and tell him what I know. Maybe he will kill the guy and let the girl watch I mean he's always up for torture and revenge. Who isn't?

This isn't edited to please point me out for mistakes. I think this is now the longest chapter with but I can't remember. I wrote this in less than a day but I forgot to save some of it so I kind of changed the idea. Song suggestions for my chapters and some that might fit my book would help.
