I stood in front of my full length mirror giving my long blonde hair one last brush before my date arrived to pick me up.

My volleyball teammate, Lauren, said she knew the guy would be perfect for me. I had never been on a blind date before and my nerves were through the roof. Lauren hadn't given me many details, all she said was that he was athletic and loved football.

I put on my navy blue converse with a pair of Cut off jean shorts and a red tank top. I had just finished when the doorbell rang. "Coming," I sing songs. My nerves suddenly vanished and turned into excitement.

I opened the door with a bright smile on my face. I saw a tall blonde man in front of me. JJ Watt. My nerves instantly came back. When Lauren said he was athletic she forgot to mention that he was the best defensive end in all of the NFL. JJ was much taller than I had ever seen before. His large frame was intimidating but his smile was intoxicating. "Hi," I said shyly. Those were the only words I could muster out of my mouth.

"Hi, you're Ellie? Right?" He asked in a sweet and inviting close. He wasn't from the south but he showed southern hospitality in his actions.

"Yeah. JJ is it?" I asked acting like I didn't know who he was.

"Yes ma'am. I must say you are absolutely stunning," he said taking a step back from the door to lol at me again.

"Oh, thanks," I blushed. I felt like a fool. I completely let me nerves take over that I hadn't even complimented the man back.

"Are we ready to go?" JJ asked me, not concerned that I hadn't given him a compliment. I nodded and JJ laced his arm in mine. We walked down the steps of my apartment complex and put to the parking lot where JJ's red truck was parked. He politely opened the door for me and helped me up into it. He ran over to his side. "Are you excited to mini golf?" He asked. He had one hand resting on the steering wheel and the other on the console that lay between us.

"Mhmmm," I nodded to him.

"Look, I get it your nervous. I'm kind of a mini golf master. You don't have to worry about beating me. Nobody has done it before," JJ joked. He knew I was nervous right and he was trying to calm my nerves.

"Oh? Mini golf master? That's funny because my friends gave me the same title," I said finally wearing up to the gorgeous man.

"Game on then," JJ winked at me. I stifled a laugh. I couldn't stop staring at him. He looked totally different in person then he did in pictures. His eyes were brighter. His stubble was more prominent. His hair was straighter. His muscles were bigger.

We pulled into the mini golf place just as the sunset. The worker turned the outdoor lights on so we could see what we were doing.

"Watch the master at work," JJ said as he lined up his ball. He gave me a cocky smile before hitting the ball. He missed the hole by about two feet, causing me to laugh at "the master."

"Please, I can do better than that," I said crossing my arms over my chest.

"I'd like to see you try Ellie," JJ said putting his weight onto the club.

"Okay, watch the real master work," I said mocking him. I lined up my ball and smacked it. I got a hole in one and JJ tried to act like he wasn't impressed.

"Luck," he said now making up excuses. He was joking of course, but he was super competitive which was a trait I always looked for in a guy.

We went back and forth with each other through all of the holes. I would tease him, he would make a great shot, he'd call himself "the master" and vice versa. We got to the last hole. "Let's make this one interesting," JJ said as he put his golf ball on the green.

"I'm listening," I said with a crooked smile and juggling my golf ball from hand to hand.

"The score is tied up. If I win I take you on another date. If you win you let me take you out on another date," JJ suggested.

"Okay, deal," I smiled at him holding out my hand for him to shake. He ignored my hand and went straight for a hug. Somewhere along the night my nerves disappeared and I ended u p having a really good time.

We both got a hole in one on the last hole, ending in a tie. "What now JJ? We didn't make a bet for a tie," I said kind of disappointed. As if j wouldn't get another date.

"The rules say, if we tie, we kiss," JJ said matter of factly and smiling at me.

"Well, rules are rules," I said. I reached up and kissed him on the lips quickly.

"Ellie, that wasn't even a real kiss." JJ whined as we handed out clubs back in.

"I guess you owe me another date after all then," I winked and skipped back to the truck. I had a smile on my face, completely surprised at how much fun I had and imagining all of the fun I could have in the future with JJ.
