Cause baby you're a firework

****

"Oh! I just love Fourth Of July!" I said as Giselle and I walked past all of the red, white, and blue food.

"Me too. It's one of my favorite things about being in America. It's such a special holiday," she agreed as she snatched a strawberry from a fruit platter.

In the driveway I see a small sports car pull up. A short but attractive man steps out and adjusts his tshirt.

"Who is that?" I asked. I raised my eyebrow at him. He was cute, whoever he was.

"That's Julian Edelman. He plays football with Tom," Giselle explained. The man went up to his teammates and greeted them with a bro hug.

A while later we were sitting at the kitchen table, waiting for the gourmet dinner to be served. There were a few faves I recognized from the Patriots organization like Rob Gronkowski and Danny Amendola.

"Mind if I sit here?" A raspy voice asked me from behind. I hadn't noticed the empty chair next to me until he asked.

"Go ahead," I answered. I turned around and instantly my heart began racing. Julian Edelman was much cuter up close than I originally thought. His grayish blue eyes were radiant and matched his glow in smile. He slid the chair out next to me and took his place at the table.

"Hi. I'm Julian," he leaned closer to me and held out his hand. His cologne was intoxicating and made me want more.

"I'm Caitlin," I said as our hands touched. A chill creeped down my spine, it was almost magical.

"How do you know Tom and Gisele?" He asked. He scooted his chair a little bit closer to the table so he wasn't so far away.

"Tom and I have been friends since we were little. He actually got me to move out here," I explained. Julian nodded.

"Isn't Boston great?" He asked. A kid like smile appeared on his face just thinking about his city and all of the great things it had to offer.

"It is. Especially around the Fourth of July," I agreed with him. The food was brought out and set in front of us. The plates placed before us were filled with strictly red, white, and blue food. Leave it to Tom and Gisele to always be creative.

"So you're originally from California?" Julian asked between bites of the fruit salad.

"Yup. Redwood City, it was about ten miles from where Tom grew up. Our parents were friends," I Answered.

"Holy shit! You're from Redwood City? I'm from Redwood City," Julian said shocked as if his mind was blown. His cool attitude seemed to am disappear the more he talked and got comfortable around me.

"Seriously?! It's not that big a of a town. It's amazing we never ran into each other," I shook my head. It was a small world.

"It's crazy. Where did you go to school?" Julian asked. He tilted his head.

"San Mateo. My mom was a teacher there," I explained.

"Ooooh. So we didn't go to the same school. That why we never saw each other," Julian said.

"Small world though," I said as I finished my dinner.

After dinner was finished we all went outside and waited for the sun to set. Tom lit the fire and everyone gathered around it. I sat on a blanket and was joined by Julian. He held two bottles in his hand and graciously have one to me.

"I'm glad I met you today and I sincerely hope this isn't the last time we see each other," Julian said holding up his bottle.

"Cheers," I replied before clinking the glass together and taking a drink. The fire instantly got going and lit up everyone's faces. Julian's arm sat comfortably behind me and I leaned into him slightly. His face was glowing because of the light of the fire. Everyone was making small talk while they waited for the fireworks to start.

Julian leaned over to me and his hot breath trickled down my neck. "I'm glad you're here," he whispered. I smiled as my cheeks filled with color.

"Me too, it wouldn't have been as fun without you here," I said as Julian took another drink. We heard the faint sound of a firework traveling high into the sky followed by the looks booming sound of it exploding into the sky.

Julian scooted his body closer to mine as the fireworks stared going off after each other. I turned my head to look at him and he surprisingly was looking at me too. His big eyes made my skin fill with tiny goosebumps.

He began leaning in and I slowly did too. He leaned his forehead against mine and finally out lips met. The kiss was just like the sky. Filled with fireworks.
