Anna only had to wait a few minutes more before she followed Jake out of town, excited and nervous. She knew Jake didn't know what she drove, so she felt safe driving behind him under her blond wig in her little blue sports car. His level of driving skill fascinated Anna. He was aggressive and careful.
Anna drove past him for the fun of it then hung back and let Jake pass her. It was like a little game they were playing that he didn't know about. A breath caught in her throat as she looked at his driver's side window while she passed. Jake looked at Anna a moment longer than necessary before she sped up to get two cars ahead of him again. Her heart was hammered in her chest, but it was exciting. For a moment Anna thought Jake had recognized her but he blasted past her again and didn't even look her way. With a smile on her face like a sly cat, Anna kept a nice even flow two cars behind him.
The further they drove on the freeway through Oregon, the roads weren't icy as much as they were wet. From experience Anna knew not to be fooled. The gorgeous snow covered the surrounding mountains and valleys which meant that ice lingered on the road in infrequent patches.
Sweat tickled Anna's hair under her blond wig, but she felt beautiful. The connection she felt to Jake was like no other she had felt with anyone before. Even though her family was rich she had never felt more like a princess in his presence even if she had chosen to dress in dirty rags without makeup. This told her she knew she was on the right track and tried to come up with ways to convince Jake that he was made for her. This road trip was sure to change Anna's life just as she was about to change Jake's. During the long stretch of road between the wavy mountains, she reminisced. Anna went over every piece of their conversation, over and over as she had since he dropped her off at her house last night. She was so happy she met someone who understood her.
Anna snapped out of her memories and noticed Jake had pulled off into a little town to drive through a fast food burger joint. She followed, as she was hungry as well, but did not approve of his choice of food. When Anna got up to the window she asked what the person two cars ahead of her ordered, then ordered the same thing. Jake got back onto the road and Anna followed. She wasn't happy about eating while driving, knowing the mess she could make would be horrid as she wasn't used to doing it. Chef Caesar would be so upset if he knew what Anna had added to her diet. She tried to keep her thoughts clear in case Caesar had the gift of mental telepathy. Anna glanced at her phone almost expecting Caesar to send her a message, so she decided to stop thinking about the food and just ate it. It wasn't as bad as she had expected it to be.
Making only a small mess, Anna brushed the crumbs off her body and kept a careful eye on Jake's truck. Where she felt energized before she ate, she now felt like she could lie comfortably down for a nap. The caffeinated pop gave her brain a false renewed energy to stay awake. Anna assumed Jake had finished his meal as well because she suddenly had to speed up to keep up with him. The sun was showing just barely through the clouds, but the air was still chilly. Not worried the roads would get icy again until she arrived at the ski resort, Anna kept up easily with Jake. The radio told her that Washington was getting dumped on with snow like a newborn covered with a comforter. With a slight wave of guilt, Anna missed that she wasn't spending time with her dad.
A car drove next to Anna that contained two girls who looked to be about college age and the stickers on their car suggested they went to an Oregon school. They drove up quicker next to Jake, and started staying level with his truck. Anna started to get annoyed. She could see into the car from the girls' side mirror and saw that she had flashed Jake her round cold firm breasts with hard nipples frozen from the weather. Jake swerved. Anna was angry. She drove closer behind the girls' car and the driver started warning her with her break lights.
