"Honey, please calm down." Kyle said. "You're getting yourself upset. Now tell me why you think Stacy is really missing and had not just lost her phone."
"Be delusional if you want Kyle, but I know she didn't just lose her phone. There are plenty of phones everywhere even if she had." Alicia said sarcastically and Kyle was struck by the sharpness in her tone. Immediately he knew he wasn't going to get anywhere by upsetting or arguing with her.
"I know she is missing because I talked to Tiffany and Maria, you know the girls Stacy was supposed to go on the trip with. They said Stacy was with them during the day yesterday for shopping all the way up until after they ate. She said she had a few errands to run and that she would meet them at the hotel for dinner or later if she was running late. There was a bad snowstorm and the girls said they even had a hard time getting to the hotel because the freeways were slick and they were stuck in a long line of traffic because of accidents." Alicia said calming down a little now that she had gotten ahold of him.
Kyle's heart sped up remembering how Jolene had taken control of his truck almost causing an accident. If Stacy was driving during one of their recent snow storms, she could be stuck somewhere buried under snow. He wanted to hang up with his wife and call his Chief immediately but he knew he needed every detail first.
"I called and left her another message. The girls said they started to worry about Stacy around midnight when she hadn't showed. By morning they just figured she changed her mind because of not wanting to drive in the snow. The weather got better the further down they went. They called and left Stacy messages but she hasn't returned anyone's calls, nor mine, and THAT isn't like her!!!" Alicia said. Kyle could feel the panic start to rise in her voice again.
"We need a list of all of the last people who saw her." Kyle told her writing down a small to-do list as Jolene's spirit had disappeared from his view and his mind shifted into another gear.
"I have one. She got into a confrontation with Harmony about a sweater and she ran into Skyler that she used to like, but something happened between Harmony and Skyler so they aren't talking." Alicia said.
"The Senator's son?" Kyle asked not liking the direction this was taking.
"Yes." Was all Alicia said feeling his stress. She at least stopped crying but he could tell she was still treading on a thin borderline of panic.
"At what time was she last seen?" Kyle asked.
"That would be around six o'clock last night." Alicia said knowing how to be direct and not spill over with any useless words, yet he was slow on the uptake to connect the important words falling off her tongue.
"Wait what about Harmony and a sweater?" Kyle asked.
"I don't know because Tiffany was talking so fast, but remember the expensive sweater Stacy borrowed from some girl at Bryce's party? Harmony apparently was angry that Stacy had it. I know that sweater is locked up in the box upstairs. I even looked in her room and the box is still on the shelf in her closet. Stacy was planning on returning it after her trip." Alicia said.
Kyle was frustrated. He tried to keep from his wife that Jake was still being followed by Anna, whom the sweater belonged to. He didn't want to worry Alicia so she didn't call Jake every moment to distract him from his driving.
"I'm going to have Stacy's car searched for. We'll find her if she got stuck in the damn snowstorm. I promise we'll find her! She is probably just caught up safe in a friend's house or something. There have been power outages across the state. She could still be on the road because the girls have moved onto her next place on their agenda, haven't they?"
