The smell of skunk was starting to ware off from inside of the truck as it was outside in the icy cold air. To Jake it seemed as if he drove straight for days. It had only been a few hours since he had been pulled over but he was afraid to stop and stretch just in case he had a confrontation with Anna. It wasn't that he was truly afraid of seeing her, he couldn't get rid of the fear of what he would do to her from the anger he felt. The energy drinks and sugar rushes just barely kept him on the road but his lids were starting to hold position half way down his eyes. The pains in his body from being knocked around for the last few days were starting to shut his body down but he fought through the pain by shifting his body several times in his seat.

The thoughts of all Anna had done left Jake feeling bewildered. Besides of all the physical pain that Anna caused him, he was livid that she went after Brittany and spent time outside of Brittany's house. The idea of Anna hurting that family kept fresh waves of energy to keep him awake for half an hour at a time. In addition to that, Anna didn't seem like a person who would touch any kind of dead animal. That was a deep anger Anna had knowing she was going to make him miserable for a while since he had to suffer with skunk fumes which he was sure penetrated two lawyers deep into his skin. Jake's body felt greasy and felt he'd kill for a shower and a bed. It was going to be several more hours before he got to his hotel to get those wonderful luxuries.

The rearview mirror was his spy. The blue car that Jake had caught sight of a few times told him it was still behind him. He had talked to Brittany a couple of times on the road to help him stay awake as well as find out if anyone heard anything about Stacy's situation. Brittany told Jake they hadn't had any more problems with anyone lurking around their house or sight of the blue car. Since the description of the car was the same, Jake knew it had to be Anna that was behind the wheel. He didn't expect to recognize her because he wouldn't know if she was wearing a wig or not. To be safe they let Brittany's little brother stay another night at his friend's house.

If it was Anna in the blue car, she had stayed a pretty good distance from Jake because he was sure she knew he was heading home. Jake hated the idea but wondered if Anna had kept in contact with Harmony. Jake's cheeks reddened at the thought that Anna raped him would spread like wild fire to people he knew. He hoped nobody knew what Anna had done to him for the private embarrassment was horrible enough as it was.

Jake had never wanted to be a shrink more than he did now because he could relate to victims of helpless situations and wanted more than ever to help those who were as affected as he was by the experiences. A nightmare that wouldn't end. Just the feeling of wanting to choke Anna because of all the problems she caused surprised and upset him. He thought he was more professional than that. He needed to keep his feelings in control so he didn't lose his freedom. It was being okay with himself that was going to get him through his memories, as flashes of them kept popping in his visual head. As he drove Jake tried to give in to them just to remember every detail he could. It was anything he could do not to think about what was going on with his sister Stacy.

The few times Jake allowed himself to concentrate on his sister, he didn't feel her. Jake couldn't hear her voice in his head and he couldn't tell if her heartbeat was having fun or not. It sounded strange when he tried to explain it to anybody, but because of how important Stacy was to him, they were connected. The family's gifts came from their grandmother. Jake's gifts took after his father and his grandmother, but Stacy's was more intuitive on the feelings of any situation. She also tried to ignore it more than Jake and their father did because it scared her deeply.

Jake wondered what was going on with Bryce and his dad for neither had called back for a while. Jake knew that his father was talking to Harmony because of Anna but if anything about his experiences with Anna came out to Bryce, Jake didn't think they would ever be able to hang out with him comfortably again.
