Anna tried tapping on the vent, tink, tink, tink. It wasn't budging. She tried a couple more times and saw Jake start to flinch, so Anna decided to leave it alone. She backed through the metal tunnel, passed quietly by the couple enjoying each other's company, and stopped at her room. It was empty so she climbed out of the vent and stepped onto the table she placed there for convenience.

She wondered if Nate was sneaking around outside of the motel looking for her. With a quick look out of her curtains she saw that Nate had fallen asleep in his car. Anna showered to wake up because she was going to have to leave soon if she was going to sneak up on her dad.

Tired but ready, Anna sat in the chair next to the window. It was still dark in the early hours of the morning, when Jake started loading up his truck. Anna had hoped Jake would reply to her apology text right away, but he hadn't. She was a bit miffed by that, but understood he probably thought she was sleeping and didn't want to wake her.

Jake had gone back to his room for some reason. That gave Anna the opportunity she needed. She grabbed her big bag, left the room key with money on the table, then rushed out to her car. The door of her car just shut when he exited the room, he stayed in. Anna peeked over her window with a makeup mirror she retrieved from her purse. Jake walked out with the bags that still looked full of food he brought to the room when he first got there. He had to walk across the parking lot to his truck and Anna watched while her wishes formed hopes and dreams. A quick glance told her that Nate was still asleep.

A dragonfly passed by her windshield and Anna's heart jumped into her throat. She wondered if it were a bug from her father. Could it have been attached to her car and was coming out to send pictures to her father that she was indeed leaving? Anna shook her head. Paranoia bit her harder than the bug ever could.

As Jake got back in his truck and made his way out. There was no other choice but for Anna to drive past Nate. If she were to keep pace with Jake, she had to follow him out now. Without risking Jake seeing her, Anna kept a slow pace as her car crept past Nate's. When their windows were almost level, Nate turned his head towards her. Her heart punched her ribs then she saw that his eyes were closed. Anna kept moving and sped up as she passed.

Anna swore that when she glanced into her rearview mirror, Nates eyes were open watching her drive off. She sped up to catch up with Jake but kept checking her mirror for Nate.

Anna had no idea what she was going to do if either one of them forced her to pull over.

Anna sent a text message to her father.

"Leaving now, love you, talk soon."

Happy that Jake was going ten miles over the speed limit, Anna followed in pursuit. She was sure that Jake didn't know what she was driving because he hadn't seen Anna near her car. He sure was in a hurry, but for what? Anna wondered. Maybe he was going to break news to family before he introduced her, she thought. It is going to be shocking for them, and she understood how he felt. That's why she planned to talk to her dad alone.

Anna wanted to show Jake that she was the same person he fell in love and had sex with.

"We created a child together, how could he treat me like this? He should be protecting me not her. I am the only one carrying his baby!" Anna's depression anxiety started to rip through her heart like drugs were shot into her veins. It flowed quickly through her body and she needed to hear her logic out loud.

"How could people change so quickly. He just led me on with his interest only to get sex. Is that all he wanted from me? He didn't even mention he had a girlfriend, or he would have been honest. How stupid of him! I would have given him that and so much more had he treated me right." Anna yelled behind her windshield.
