Within the sweatshirt was a dagger with the finest pattern on the sharp blade he had ever seen. It was stunning and he wanted to pick it up to examine it but that would tell Nate he had been in his room. Colin wondered why Nate didn't show such a beautiful piece to him while he was here. Thinking Nate must of have forgotten, Colin replaced the sweatshirt over the object the way he found it and walked out of the room careful not to touch anything else. Who knows if Nate took pictures to catch if someone touched it? Colin laughed at his paranoia as he clicked the door shut.
Crossing the hallway and passing by the girls' rooms, Colin went through his bedroom and closet to visit his Tessa locking each door behind him. The least he could do was make sure she was dressed so she could feel special with the remaining hours she had left on this earth.
Tessa was so beautiful! Colin would never tire of her beauty. She looked so frail as if she knew it was her last day and wanted to get it over with. He probably could just kill her and burn her to ashes as if he was burning leaves, but with the threat of cops possibly coming around, he didn't want to take any chances.
He picked her up and hooked her locked hands on the chains that allowed her to stand. She was wobbly on her feet at first and it took Colin a couple of minutes to steady her.
"Didn't I tell you to walk more so your muscles didn't atrophy?" Colin gently scolded her.
In response Tessa laid her head on his shoulder. He thought for a minute that he felt her relief and acceptance for what was to come. She had always been able to read his mind. Her vulnerability enticed him so he unlocked Tessa's braces and picked her up to carry her to his big bed. Tessa was too weak to fight and she should at least be comfortable for her last day. As much as he hated her, he still had love for her too.
Colin spent an hour with her being gentle and only moved onto the next pleasure when she asked for it. Afterwards he took her into his giant bath and they bathed each other, enjoying every inch and moment their wet bodies touched.
After Colin dried her off he took her back to her room and stood her up asking for forgiveness while putting her chains back on. Tessa just smiled as if she understood. He then dressed her in her white beautiful gown that he had set aside. He put on the shoes and accessories that made her feel glamorous. The last thing that he needed to add was the strand of pearls that goes around her neck. He looked in the drawers and remembered he had packed her jewelry. He looked on his inventory lists and didn't see the pearl necklace listed. He knew where every single piece of jewelry he bought her was and checked the pages again. Colin indeed had the pearl necklace listed but it was the only thing without a checkmark next to it.
Colin opened every drawer, checked every corner and looked around each box to see if the pearl necklace had fallen somewhere. With how pristine the room was it wouldn't be able to hide even if it did fall on the floor. The necklace was missing. He tried to think of the last time he had it. Colin felt panic as he was sure it was in this room last which meant someone had found his hidden room and didn't say anything to him. He racked his brain, reorganizing explanations and suspects. Then breaking through his anxiety he remembered where he had it last. It was on his dresser because the last time he had been home to visit he had cried himself to sleep holding the necklace. The pearls were special to him because he gave them to Tessa as a wedding gift that she wore to the altar. She had even worn them to the cabin the last day she was seen alive.
This wasn't the first time that this necklace went missing from his side table. He remembered the first time Anna had found it many years ago when she was hanging out with him as he packed to leave for work. He had told her to be careful with it, and that her mother had worn it as her bridal necklace. Anna was always hungry for information on her mother so she attached herself to it quite easily. He had to retrieve it a few times from her bedroom after he got back from a work trip. That was one of the reasons he had started to lock his bedroom door.
