Within the quiet room, Ryan was sitting in the chair just staring at his feet quietly. Once Kyle sat down Ryan sat straight up. Kyle knew a few people were watching behind the double-sided glass. Ryan hadn't but glanced at it the whole time he had been waiting to be questioned. He looked tired, hungry, and defeated. His eyes were red from crying and he looked as if he hadn't slept in days. Kyle introduced himself and placed a soft drink in front of Ryan. He gladly took it and drank half before he sat the can back on the table. Ryan looked up at Kyle like he didn't know what to expect.
Kyle got straight to the point.
"Do you know why you are here?"
"Because Jolene was murdered Friday night and you guys think I am a suspect?" Ryan replied.
"Correct. Did you kill Jolene?" Kyle asked.
"No. I loved Jolene." Ryan said looking scared.
"Is that why you were with another girl?" Kyle asked.
"No, yes, no. we've been having some problems, but I would NEVER hurt Jolene much less kill her."
"Why don't you tell me what happened." Kyle said.
Relieved Ryan rushed.
"Jolene and I are getting married... were... getting married." Ryan stopped for a moment and took a deep breath trying to hold his emotions in check. His eyes bulged with redness that was unnatural.
"I met a girl online at a wedding site that Jolene used to go on all of the time. She was a model and I was meeting her for drinks Friday night at Club Magician. I wasn't looking for anyone but started talking to her online and she was flirting with me. Her name was Harmony. She was the main model and she was hot. She made me feel good, and we enjoyed some of the same things. Then we decided to meet after talking for a few months, at a club where there were lots of people. She figured we could dance a few dances, have a drink or two, and then go somewhere to talk if we felt comfortable with each other."
Kyle set out three sets of papers and asked if any of them were the sites he was talking about. There were also three girls with the name Harmony at the bottom of the page. Ryan pointed out who he thought he was meeting.
"Do you know her last name?" Kyle asked.
"No. This is the website I know her from and the girl that I was supposed to be meeting named Harmony is from this site but that wasn't who showed up." Ryan said.
Kyle put the other two packets back into the folder and kept the one that Ryan had pointed to in front of him. The girl Harmony, pictured at the bottom of the page with long straight blond hair was staring at them both. To Kyle, she didn't look like a teenager, closer to her mid-twenties because of the expert makeup. He knew his own daughter Stacy looked older when her makeup was professionally done for her modeling jobs. However, Stacy was never able to achieve the same effect for which Kyle was grateful because he wasn't in a hurry for his daughter to grow up. Ryan continued.
"The girl I met at Club Magician didn't look like any of these girls on the website. She had short black hair and was shorter than the model in this picture called Harmony." Ryan said confirming what Kyle had heard from the workers at the bar.
"The girl I met had eyes that scared me a little, like she could see inside your head." He said looking at Kyle, then looked at his hands. "Maybe that was my guilt."
"What did her eyes look like?" Kyle asked.
"They were a bright green and seemed like they were glowing a little. I swear I saw them jiggle when we were first talking."
