Chapter 3
Diamond
School was different from home of course. It was the only place where everybody knew me and everybody envied me. I was in there deep rocking my tomb boy outfits like TLC and SWV. My favorite girl groups. I had all the jogging suits with the skirts to match the jackets. I can just tell you right now that I never missed a party or a game. I even had my own little clique. I had four girls following me everywhere I went. Chardenay and her twin Cleondra were my main chicks. They were my most loyal best friends since the third grade that I ever had. They had dark chocolate skin, big juicy lips, and long fourteen-inch sew-ins. Chardenay's sew-in had streaks of red in it and Cleondra had blonde. Brice was a friend that Cleondra started talking to so we let her hang around with us. We started to like her because she knew everything about everyone at Central Queens High school, and Bryneese who we all call Brye was the shortest, and fattest out of all of us. She was cool, but she was also the ghettoest, so if you crossed her wrong way, you could guarantee that your ass would get stomped sooner or later. To me, boys were secondary. I had all of them pretty much drooling after me. Men even looked at my ass when I walked past them, and they even found it hard to believe that I was only fourteen. Some of them didn't even care. My friends didn't even believe me when I told them that I was still a virgin.....besides my biggest secret. I came to school dressed to kill. My dress code had no rules. As long as my clothes were tight and some skin was showing, I was good. Today I was rocking a long-sleeved red sweater, jeans that hugged my hips, and black boots. I walked into the cafeteria with my crew and found a table to sit at. We all sat down with eyes watching us. Some envied, some hated, but we didn't care. We all knew that we were bad bitches. My hair was in a high ponytail that sat on the side of my scalp letting the fake, silky, brown hair dangle to my shoulder. I applied lip gloss to my lips and checked myself out in a small pocket mirror that Chardenay had. My large, hoop earrings spelled my name in cursive and I had on a small chain that also read my name. I put the mirror down and looked across my table and at another one full of freshman boys. They were all starring at our table hard and smiling. I smirked then lifted up my hand and wiggle my fingers at them. I was trying to be cute as I continued to wave. There was one boy in particular who had been trying to holla at me since school started, but every time I turned him down, he'd always find a knew way to ask me out. His name was Tyrone and he never got enough of me. He was cute, but not what I was looking for in a guy. He was too cocky and tried to act tough all the time knowing that deep down inside that he wasn't anything but a little pussy. He and his friends kept looking back so I turned to Chardenay. "He keeps starring". I say to her. She looks over at Tyrone's table.
"Girl, I don't understand why you just won't go out with him......date or something. He's cute". Chardenay says turning back toward me.
"I know he's cute, but cute isn't enough". I say. Chardenay looks at me like I was crazy. There was no use talking to her about this because she never understood where I was coming from. "Look Chardenay, no matter how many times he asks me out, the answer will always be no because he's just not my type". I turn away from her and put my elbows on the table and sink my cheek into my fist.
"Well even if you wanted to, you couldn't have Tyrone". Brice said. I rose my face off of my fist and looked at her.
"What do you mean"? I asked her.
"He's taken". She says.
"By who"?
"I thought you didn't care". Cleondra chimed in. I looked at Cleondra like she lost her mind.
"Just because I don't want to go out with him doesn't mean that I don't like the attention that he's giving me". I say. I watch the girls start to crack up laughing. I starred at Brice. "Who is Tyrone taken by"? I asked curiously.
