Chapter 41
Diamond
I sat in Gay Tony's office that he had in his big house out in Hollis Hills. I had just came to visit, but I needed to talk to him about important shit. Summer had been over and it was back to the cold weather. I couldn't believe how fast time moved. It felt like yesterday I was just getting released from the group home, but that had been a year and a half ago. I starred at Gay Tony. He was my mentor. The person who told me all about the game. The person that was acting like a father to me. Although he was young himself, he was well into his thirties and was acting like a father figure to me well. I starred at him. He starred at me back. I saw Hugo standing next to him with his arms crossed. I have had enough of the silence so I broke the ice. "Tony, I came here to talk to you". I said sitting with a floppy white sun hat on and black shades."About what honey"? He asked.
"About moving".
"Oh, you got tired of the apartment I see. Well I'll look into getting you another one soon okay". He said in his Cuban accent.
"No, it's not that. I mean I'm tired of Queens. I've been here all my life. I want to go out of state. I'm tired of New York". I said. Gay Tony looked at me with his eyebrows rose.
"But you've already started so much down south. Your making good money and you have business to take care of. Why would you want to leave"?
"Because your not listening. I have business to take care of.......out of state. If I started something here, I know I can do it there". I said. I watched Gay Tony grab a green wine cooler from the mini refrigerator he had under his desk.
"What is it exactly that you want"? He asked. I paused at the question. I didn't know why I wanted to go so bad. I guess it was because I was truly tired of New York.
"I want...............I just want to get away". I finally said.
"Where is it that you want to go"? Gay Tony asked.
"I want to go to California". I said.
"But if you go to California then I won't be able to keep an eye on you and make sure your doing okay".
"Tony, I am grown. I got this".
"But your trying to get into this drug game shit and your only nineteen years old Diamond. Anything could happen to you. I don't think you realize the dangers that your putting yourself in". He said. I remembered when Calli once said that to me.
"I'll be fine. I'll try my best not to make beef". I said. "I'll leave my small business to Alex".
"Okay". Gay Tony said. "Well if your going to California, then I know some people down in Los Angeles that you can fuck with. This guys name is Royale. He thinks he runs LA's streets. He thinks he's the man just because he has armed men surrounding his house, but don't we all. He's a millionaire, but it's all drug money".
"What does he have to do with me"? I asked.
"Go see him. When you have your shit together, go to him and sell him your product. Let him know who's come to town. Make deals with him, get known. You'll have money flowing so fast that you won't see it coming when it hits you". Gay Tony said smiling.
"Is this guy dangerous"? I asked.
"We're talking drug lords here. Of course he's dangerous. All you have to do is stay strapped yourself. Before you go to him, I'll call him and set up a meeting. By then, you should have your shit together, and you can go see him".
