Chapter 18
Cruze
It was hard kissing Diamond and saying goodbye to her if I didn't know if I was going to see her again, but I couldn't think about her right now. I had to stay focused. I held my AK in my hands and an empty duffel bag on my shoulder as I followed the men to the recreation center. It wasn't anything more than a large, old building with worn our walls and graffiti spray painted on them. The sky was pitch black and this was the perfect time to get at Slick's boys. They had absolutley no idea of what was expected or what was to come. I walked with pride as we headed to the recreation center. When we got to the entrance doors, we could hear loud music, laughter, and the sound of metal clinking together. These busters was in there weight lifting like they were hard, but they was really about to be put in their place after what we were going to do to them. We came to eliminate and collect, or at least that's what Calli said. As soon as we stepped foot in the building, Calli, Miles, Raheem, Uncle Ronnie, and Gay Tony's niggas started throwing gasoline on the walls and spilling it on the floors, then they started turning tables, chairs, and old desk, while kicking and breaking the shit. We all started to walk to the gymnasium where the music was coming from. I started shaking as we neared the gym. I aimed my AK as we walked and my fingers trembled. The smell of the gasoline lingered through my nostrils as we got closer. When we finally reached the gym doors, Calli counted to three and we busted in there shooting. All ten of us. Bu, bu, bu, bu, bu, bu, bu. I cracked my AK and went at it again. Slick's niggas scattered like ants when they saw us. The more I shot my gun, the more bodies I seen fall, then that's when I realized that the recreation center was two stories high and we were all in the gymnasium. Slick's boys had started to shoot back at us. I kicked over a desk that had a balance and cocaine on it, and ducked down behind it. I peeked over the desk and shot my gun some more. I looked over to see Raheem hiding behind a wall. We looked at each other for a second then he went back to shooting. I looked over at Calli who had stopped shooting to reload his gun then the most tragic thing happened. All I could see was the two flying bullets that penetrated right through his body. They came too fast. Too fast for Calli to dodge. Calli flung backward, his gun flew out of his hand, then his body hit the hard gymnasium floor. I watched it all play out in slow motion in my mind. I watched to see if he would get up, but he didn't even move. I knew he was dead. The only person that I could count on to get us all out of here was dead. The person that was afraid of one mistake had made that mistake. Calli had slipped up and now he was gone. I was so angry that I couldn't even look at Calli's blood on the floor. I ducked down and ran out of the gymnasium and into the hallway. I was about to go and get the real reason why we came here. I hid behind a big desk that was turned over. I sat there and waited, then I started to see big flames coming out of the gym and spreading into the hall. It was following the trail of gasoline. I had to get out of there so I ran out of the entrance doors. I looked over at the two jeeps sitting across the street. I saw Diamond through the windows leaned back. She looked deep in thought. She looked afraid. I hurried to run so she wouldn't see me. I ran to the back of the recreation center where there were no flames. I went through the back door and that's when I seen old game and work out rooms. I saw a scared teenage boy about my age running, but before he got past me, I grabbed him. I took my left hand and shoved his face on a wall. I used my right hand to point my AK at him. "Whoever you are, please don't kill me"! He coughed.
"Where's the stash"!? I yelled at him.
"Everyone is dead". The boy cried. "Everyone....Slick gonna be mad, Slick gon' kill yall". I turned the boy around and slammed him into the wall. I pointed my AK just under his chin.
"Slick ain't gonna do a got damn thing". I said angrily. "Now I'm a ask you one more time before I blow your motha fuckin' head off...................where's the stash"?
