Reasoning with Liam when he is convinced of something is a nearly impossible task. Logic flies out the window and anger takes over. This time, he was convinced you were cheating on him. The accusation made next to no sense but you still had to talk him down from a ledge. "How could you? With Brett of all people!" You didn't know where he got his information but once it was in his brain, it wasn't leaving. Since, you go to Davenford, you were fairly close with Brett but he was more like the brother you never had, than anything else. "Are you even listening?"

You sigh and sit next to him on his bed, "Of course I'm listening. I just don't see why you're getting so worked up over something that isn't true." Most times, it wouldn't take you long to calm him down but you could tell this time was different. He sat with his back hunched with his forearms resting on his knees and his fist clenched, his jaw flexed so hard you thought the bone was going to come through his skin. "Liam, I can't keep doing this. You are so quick to believe everything you hear without asking me about it first. I've told you countless times that Brett is like a brother to me and you still don't trust me."

He turns his head to look at you while taking your hand in his. His grip tightens slowly, squeezing your fingers together. "You haven't given me any reason to trust you." Your fingers start to lose feeling as his hand crushes them slowly. "Let go." You tug your arm away but his grip is too strong. "You're hurting me." A tear starts rolling down your face. You yank your arm again, this time breaking his hold on you.

Liams eyes soften as you raise to your feet, he stands with you and reaches his hand out to touch your arm but you flinch away. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to." He takes a step back and his gaze drops to your hand, your fingertips were a dark shade of purple and your skin had turned red and blotchy. "I don't know what came over me, I promise it won't happen again." You sigh as you bend down to pick up your backpack, "You say that, then you're angry about some stupid rumour two seconds later and we are back at square one. I can't keep being your emotional punching bag."

His eyes become glossy as tears form, his throat starts to tighten as he hold them back. He clears his throat, "I know, I haven't been the best at managing my anger and I'm truly sorry. I want to work on it and it's too much to ask of you, to help with that." He pulls at his fingers as he speaks, trying to maintain eye contact. "I've tried helping you, Liam. But I can't keep being your emotional punching bag." He nods and looks at the floor as he lets out a sob. His shoulders begin to shake and the sound of his tears falling on the carpet rings through your ears. You set your bag on the floor and wrap your arms around his shoulders, resting your head against his.

"It's going to be okay." He leans into your arms as you stroke his hair with one hand and his back with the other. "I don't want you to leave." His voice is hoarse but gentle as he slowly lifts his head off your shoulder. You shake your head and cup his face while wiping his tears with your thumbs. "I'm not leaving. We just need to find a balance and I'm willing to work for that, if you are."

He nods, wrapping his hands around your wrists. He turns your hand over and places a gentle kiss against your palm, "Please forgive me for this, I never want to hurt you again. I love you more than words can explain."
