Khaos

“Good morning ho, ser,” a woman I don't know greeted in a strong provincial accent.

“Who the heck are you?!”

“Bagong maid n'yo ho,” sagot nito nang nakangiti. She even did a curtsy with her maid uniform.

As I sat on the couch to somehow ease the pain, I noticed her staring at me in a very stupid way.

The moment I glared at her, she instantly closed her big mouth. Having someone else in my house is already a nuisance but her, being this talkative is hell.

“Ser, half-korean ho kayo, 'no? Halata ho kasi saka 'yong tatay n'yo halatang koreano—”

I clicked my tongue as I reach for the phone in my pocket.  “Abeoji, i mueos-ibnikka? Wae daleum hanyeo leul bonae nayo?” (Father what's this? Why did you send another maid?) Bungad ko nang masagot ang tawag ko.

My father simply answered that he wants someone to attend to my needs which we already discussed and I already refused hundreds of times.

“Naneun abeoji eul ihae.” (I understand, Father.)

Dismayado akong napabuntong-hininga. Father is a person hard to convince, he never changes a decision he already made.

“Hangsang na-e daehae geogjeong hae jusyeoseo gamsahabnida. Nado geunyeo leul geuliwo eomeoni ege.” (Thank you for always worrying about me. Tell mother I miss her too.) Wala na 'kong nagawa kundi ang sumang-ayon.

I threw my phone on the center table after endeding the call.

“Give me the house keys!”

“B-bakit ho?” nagtatakang tanong niya.

“Just hand them over!” “I don't care what father told you to do, but I won't let you stay here! Leave!”
