VIII: CONCERNED

A girl wearing a strange robe murmured words which seemed familiar. Then, everything went dark again....

With haste, I climbed out of the lake's freezing water. We successfully crossed the realm. Adria was able to reach Amystrea.

My clothes dried instantly as I stepped on the muddy land covered with grass. My eyes simply wandered, searching for her. And when I found where she is, I averted my eyes. I can't let her know that-I'm concerned.

"You've already crossed the boundary between realms," Nagkunwari akong pinapagpagan ang suot ko nang hindi siya nililingon. "Shouldn't you be getting out of the water by now?" I added in a fake upset tone before taking notice of what's keeping her from getting out of the water.

"If I could, I would!"

Galit siya pero takot. I wonder how she can feel both emotions at the same time. Hindi siya kumikilos at halos hindi na makapagsalita.

"That's a merfish," I calmly said.

The expression on her face was priceless, I almost gave out a laugh.

"It's a half man, half fish critter that lives through flesh and blood." Tuluyan nang nawalan ng kulay ang mukha niya pagkatapos ng idinagdag ko. "No need to make a fuss." Pinipilit niyang itago ang takot pero kitang-kita namang hindi siya mapalagay. "Hindi ka kakainin n'yan hangga't hindi mo siya tinitingnan sa mga mata. It hyponitizes its prey before sinking its teeth unto it."

The troubled face of hers is worth remembering.

"For Pete's sake, do something!" nakakabingi niyang singhal.

Kung hindi siguro siya natatakot, malamang na kanina pa siya nagpapapadyak sa inis. Bahagya akong yumuko para maitago ang ngiti ko sa naisip.

Tulala kong naimulat ang mga mata.

What was that? Everything felt so damn real.

It was a different dream, but it's connected to the one I'm always having. The same girl with the blurry face was in there.

I'm getting worked up over a dream.

Iginala ko sa paligid ang paningin. Bumungad sa 'kin ang pamilyar na kuwarto.

Wala akong matandaan sa mga nangyari kagabi. Hindi ko alam kung pa'no ako nakauwi. I tried standing up, but my head kept spinning that I fell back in bed. Nang lingunin ko ang orasan, nakita kong halos mag a-ala una na ng tanghali.
