Part.9 Yukiko's Wings Shine

"M-my wings."
I say, looking around.
I stand up.
Haruki walks into the room.
"Oh, hello."

Why is he so unphased?

"L-l-look! Her w-w-wings!"
Yukiko shouts at him.
"Yes... I see them... is there a problem?"
Haruki asks.
"Well... yes. If she was using a spell, then I would have noticed an aura coming from her."
Yukiko says with agitation.
"I could. The guard spell at least. Setsuna is very powerful. She used some sort of concealing spell, so it would be hard to tell she was using magic at all."
He explains.

Wait. I was?

"What do you mean by this? I don't recall using any 'magic' at all."
I say.
"What? I thought you did it on purpose. I mean that's what I use.
I use a spell to temporarily hide my wings. See?"
He says, with a small gesture, wings appear.

They're grey... like mine.

"Haruki, why are they grey?"
I ask him.
His expression changes as he talks.
"You see, the same thing happened to me as it did to you. Hiroto tried to turn me. I managed to turn myself half back though. That's why he made me leave. Because I could interfere with his plans."
"I get it now! I knew you weren't as terrible as he said!"
I reply.
He looks up in surprise.
"Really? What made you so sure?"

Um... What did make me so sure?

"I... uh... don't really know."
I mutter.
"Oh."
He says, looking down with an almost disappointed look on his face.

What did he want me to say?

I sit back down on the edge of the chair.
"Wait... interfere... with what plans?"
I say, under my breath.
"What was that?"
Haruki says, looking confused.
"What plans? What plans were you interfering with?"
I ask again.
"To turn some of the most powerful gods, and in your case goddesses, into fallen." He speaks,
him saying this the feeling in the room changes.

This whole time that's what he was doing?
It all fits together now.
The reason Guardian wanted me.
The reason he knew where I was.
The attack.
The way my wings turned black.
He's been planning this all along.
And we... we just stayed here.

"I can't believe I didn't realize sooner."
I say.
Yukiko is looking confused now.
"Pardon?"
"Hiroto is... Fallen."
Saying these words makes my heart race.
"He's been working against us and he tried to turn me Fallen for Guardian."
"Yes. That's why I saved you Setsuna"
When Haruki says that, I look right at him.
I walk over to him and with an overwhelming feeling, I just bury my face into his chest and begin to cry.
I can't stop crying.
Before now, I'd never known how much he really did for me.
Haruki puts his hand on my head in attempt to try and comfort me.

We now wander the mansion looking for Hiroto.
Kou speaks.
"Where is that bastard!?"
At this point we've been looking for hours.
The mansion is too big.
"Oh? What's this?"
I pass a door and feel a strange energy on the other side.
"Here."
I point at the door.
"What? How can you be so sure?"
Arina asks.
"I can just feel it. Trust me on this one."
I say.
Kou opens the door.

What a strange room...

The room's walls are covered in paintings of angels and demons.
There are statuettes of more demons and angels on the desk to the left.
"Someone's obsessed."
Yukiko states.
"Mmm..."
Haruki mumbles.
It's dark in the room but through the small cracks in the curtains, streams of light from the moon shine in, onto objects.
There is a single illuminated life-size statue in the middle of the room.
The statue has big wings that are spread out.
The wings twitch.
"Whoa! You see that?"
Kou shouts.

It moved.

"Back away! Move!"
Haruki yells shoving Kou out of the way.
The statue moves and impales Haruki.
The face on the statue comes into the light.

It's Hiroto!

Haruki falls to the ground.
I rush to his side.
"No, Haruki! You can't die!
Because... because I think I'm falling for you!"

"I'll kill you!"
Yukio growls at Hiroto.
Her wings spread wide.
They are white and brighter than anything I've ever seen.
Her wings light up the room and Hiroto falls to his knees.
