Part.12 Hiroto's Change Of Heart

"Hiroto? You're... awake?"
I ask.

Did he... see all that?

Kou walks up to him.
"Hey dude, take it easy."
He says, in a hushed tone.

I thought Kou... hated Hiroto
But he seams to be genuinely worried.

I ask about Hiroto's progress.
"Kou! How's he doing?"
"He seems fine."
He answers.
We walk over to him and bring him back inside.

Yukiko and Arina brought Hiroto to one of the many rooms in the mansion.
When I walk in, they are talking to him.
Kou and Haruki follow close behind.
Hiroto smiles at me, but it's not a devious smile.
It's a welcoming smile.
I smile back.
"Hello, Miss Miyazaki."
Hiroto says.

What a cheerful smile he's wearing.
It's... unusual.

I look at Kou.
We exchange confused looks.
"So you feelin'... better?"
Kou asks Hiroto.
"Why yes, I'm feeling much better."
He responds.
"He doesn't seem to remember anything. Though it could be an act."
Yukiko says.

Ah, that's why he's so happy.

I sigh.
"Well what should we do with him?"
Haruki asks.
"Maybe we could get him to work with us.
I mean if he begins to remember, us giving him a good impression will nudge him to give us dirt on Guardian."
I throw the idea out there.
"That may work, or he'll try to kill us."
Kou says.
"True."
Haruki agrees.
"Wait. I've seen something like this once before."
Says Arina.
Surprised, I ask.
"What do you mean?"
"Once before, a Fallen cast a spell on a member of another race.
They served them without question until they died. Considering Hiroto is alive and well... perhaps something went wrong with the spell. I don't think he remembers anything though."
Arina explains.
"That could be the case, but who would do that?"
Yukiko asks.
"Guardian."
I say, looking up.
"You're right. I don't know any other Fallen that would cast a spell such as that."
Haruki agrees.
"Well... I did use some sort of force spell on him earlier, it sent him flying. Do you think the spell broke 'cause he died?"
I ask.
"Not very likely. Though you could have very well injured him. It's hard to keep up a strong spell like this when you've got one foot in the grave."
Yukiko says.

I see... so I didn't kill him.
I suppose I'm glad. I'm not sure what I would do if I had blood on my hands.
Human or not, I still would have killed someone.

"Well, we can see how he does. I'll watch him."
Arina volunteers.
"Arina? Are you feeling okay? I mean you hate Hiroto just as much as any of us do. Why would you volunteer to watch him?"
Yukiko asks, looking confused.
Arina responds looking slightly flushed.
"I... uh, just think that I should.
So drop it would you?"
"Okay... if you says so."
Yukiko speaks loudly walking out of the room.

I wake up in one of that bedrooms at the Sakamaki Mansion.

So... tired...

I yawn and stretch.
Rolling over I feel something warm next to me.

What the... is that... a person.

I pull back the covers only to find...

That Kou is sleeping next to me.
"Kou...? Hehe. He looks like a child when he sleeps."
I whisper to myself.

Wait, what am I talking about!?
I'm sleeping in the same bed as Kou!

Kou twitches a little.
His eyes begin to open a little.

Oh no! I can feel my cheeks growing hotter by the moment.
What will I do if he sees me blushing like this?

He opens them fully and looks me square in the eyes.
His eyes shoot open realizing where he is.
"S-Setsuna!"
He shouts.
I look at him and begin to speak.
"Why are you... in the same bed as me?
"I uh... you were uh... well you see..."
He attempts to talk but fails to complete his sentence before being interrupted.
Something shoots up in between us.

"Y-Yukiko!?"
Kou yells.
"Hush"
I violently shush him.
"S-s-sorry."
He replies.
"Ugh, I'm leaving!"
I say getting up and walking towards the door.
"Wait! Don't leave me here with her. Setsuna!"
Kou whines at me from the other side of them door but I pay him no mind.

I'll go check on Arina and Hiroto.

I open the door to the room they were in.
What I see surprises me...
Hiroto and Arina are on the ground.
Hiroto is slightly hovering over her.
"W-what the HELL!"
I shout.
They both jump up.
"Um... well so he uh... remembered. I was also right about the whole spell thing."
Arina tries to explain.
"Wait! Do you like him!?"
I ask, looking directly at Arina.
"Um... well yo--"
She tries to say but Hiroto cuts her off.
He grabs her waist and pulls her close.
"I've decided to fight with you!"
He says cheerfully.
