Part.23 Broken Bonds

I lied.
I did love Shou.
I didn't want Haruki to know though. I don't know what he would think.
Not like it matters seeing as I don't love him anymore so--

"If you hang around him... he will kill you. He's Fallen."
But when those words came out of Haruki's mouth. I didn't know what to do.
I lie in bed thinking about what was discussed at dinner.
It's the only thing on my mind.

Shou is Fallen? How is that possible?

My eyes tear up.
I wipe them away before they can stream down my cheek.
I sniff.
Haruki seeming to notice what's happening rolls over and pulls me closer to his chest.
"I'm sorry. I feel as if I was too harsh earlier. Please forgive me."
He says.
"Oh, Haruki. You did nothing wrong."
I reply.
Rolling over, I hug him back.
I nuzzle into his chest and fall asleep.

I feel something on my face.
"Hmm?"
I grumble slowly batting my eyes open.
Haruki's face is very close to mine but that's not what's touching my face.
He's grinning like a fool and poking my cheek over and over again
"Haruki... What are you doing?"
I ask with a disappointed tone.
"Waking you up... Hehe"
He says, then laughs slightly.
My eyebrows lower and my lips purse.
"You know there are a hundred other ways to wake me up that don't involve a constant poke."
I shout while getting out of bed.
I look over at him from the closet.
He gives me puppy dog eyes and a lip tremble.
"I'm sorry."
He says.
I stick my nose up.

As if that would work.

I get out the cafe uniform and my school uniform.
He crawls out of bed and gets his school uniform as well.
I get dressed back facing him.

Is it wrong of me to pout for such a stupid reason?

I slip on my shirt and skirt and turn to face him.

Oh yeah he's getting dressed too...

It's too late though when I turn to look at Haruki he has no shirt.
I feel my face grow hot and I quickly turn back around.
"Hmm?"
He looks up.
"I... Uh... Erg."
I can't seem to find the words to say.
"What's wrong?"
He asks.

What's wrong?
Ugh!

I turn back around to face him only to see he still doesn't have one on.
I put on my brave face and walk to the bathroom. He follows.

Uh...

I pick up my toothbrush.
Haruki's eyes widen like he's just remembered something embarrassing.
All he does is stand there.
I finish and put my hands on the counter.
I raise my eyebrows as if to ask 'well?'
"Oh uh... Well... I need to use the bathroom. I'm pretty sure you don't want to be in here for that..."
He says.

Oh... Well... What did I think he was trying to do!?
Ugh of course!
We are in the bathroom after all...

I can see that my face grows more red in the mirror.
"Oh yeah, right!"
I shout nervously and speed walk out of the bathroom.
I can hear the door shut behind me.

I'm in second period and I still can't get it off my mind.
The bell rings and I quickly pick up my things and head towards the door.
I'm making my way down the hall but I'm pulled into a closet.

No one seemed to notice!

The closet is dark and cramped and there's a hand covering my mouth.
Whoever they are they hold me close.
I can tell it's a man by the broad shoulders and the breathing pattern.
"Mmm."
I try to talk but then remember my mouth is covered.
"Listen. I'm not trying to hurt you. I've come to warn you. You're in danger! You didn't kill Guardian and he's on the move. He knows exactly where you are and he's coming for you.
You need to leave this place before it's too late."
They explain.

We just got back...
No this is bigger than just wanting to stay home.
We could all die.

The rest of my thinking is interrupted by Haruki opening the door.
It's like he knew exactly where I was.
He pulls me out by my wrist and shuts the door.
"We have to go! Guardian is here and he's got a group of Fallen with him."
Haruki shouts dragging me behind as he bolts.
