Part.19 School's Grasp

"Where am I gonna sleep?"
Haruki asks, grabbing my wrist.

Uh, where is he... Gonna sleep?

"Well, there's only one bed..."
I say looking down and blushing.
"Yes. That's why I'm asking."
He says kind of awkwardly.
"Well... I... You.... See.... It's... Uh."
I try to talk but nothing except nonsense comes out.
"I'll sleep on the floor. It seems you're a little... Well, a lot nervous."
He chuckles and let's go of my wrist.
He goes to grab some blankets from the closet.
And makes a small pallet next to the bed.
"'Kay."
I mutter.

That was my chance!
I totally blew it!
Ugh!
Stupid!
Stupid moron!

I flop face first onto the bed and scream into the pillows.
I can hear him move closer so I stop.
"Erg."
He groans laying down.
"I-I'll turn off the lights."
I tell him.
"Alright."
He says.
I flip over onto my back and let my legs touch the floor.
Slowly sitting up I look down at him, then back up.
I stand and walk to the wall and flip the switch.

Crap!
I should have thought this through more.
I can't see a darn thing!
Well... I think I remeber where he was...

I take a small step forward and the wood floor creeks.
Listening to the awkward silence be interrupted, I take another small step forward.

Erg!
I can't take this...
Um...

"M-Marco..."
I call out.

What the hell did I just say!?

"Um... Pardon?"
Haruki mumbles.
I look down only to realize there's nothing to look down at seeing as I can't see.
"Uh... Nothing."
I say.
I take a few steps forward.
His breathing gets closer.
I trip.

No!
Don't tell me I'm gonna fall on Haruki!

I hit something but at the same time the lights flip on.
"Are you okay!?"
Haruki calls out to me.
Except to my surprise, he's behind me, not under me.
He'd gotten up to flip on the lights and I fell on his bed.

Wait, he got up?
Why am I so dissapointed that he wasn't here for me to fall on?

"Uh, yeah... I'm fine!
Jeez that was embarrassing!"
I shout.
"Tripping in the dark isn't that embarrassing. It could've happened to anyone."
He says trying to reassure me.
"R-Right..."
I say casting my eyes down.
I get up into my bed.
"Um... I'll turn the lights off thus time, 'kay?"
He says flipping off the lights.
I roll over and drift off to sleep after about 15 minutes of silently crying for being such an idiot.

I wake up slowly, blinking rapidly.

Wait, where am I!?
Oh yeah, that's right. I'm back at home.

I stretch out but my movement is restricted due to something being close to me.
Light streaming in from the window, momentarily blinding me.
I try to see what lies under the sheets in the orange rays of the sun.
I slowly pull back the covers.

Haruki is laying there beside me in bed.

What is with people latly!?

"Um, Haruki."
I mutter, trying to shake him awake.
His eyes shoot open.
"Oops... I fell asleep."
He says to himself.
"H-Haruki? Why are you in bed with me?"
I ask.
He wraps his arm around my neck and holds me close, resting his chin atop my head.
"Well, you see, I got a little cold last night. Seeing as you were right here, I couldn't help but warm myself up by laying next to you."
He says.

I can hear his heart beating.

"O-Oh, I see."
I say.
At this point I just lay there with him.
He begins to nuzzle up against me.

Oh god.
I can't believe that this is happening.
I never ever thought that...

My phone begins to ring
"Ugh! Just ignore it."
Haruki says.
"What if it's important?"
I ask him.
"So? I just want to stay like this a little longer."
He says.

That's really hard to resist... But it could be important.

"Sorry."
I say, pushing away and rolling over to pick up.
The phone reads. "Nice Guy"

Oh yeah, I never changed that.

I answer.
"Hello."
I groan."
"Where are you? You're usually right on time! You're 30 minutes late!"
Kou screams.

It's Monday!?

"S-Sorry! I forgot what day it was. I'll be there right away!"
I shout.
"What is it?"
Haruki asks me.
"It's Monday, I have work, and school for that matter. I forgot all about them."
I say, jumping up from bed and grabbing clothes for school and work.
I begin to change.
"Oh, uh... Okay..."
Haruki says.
I look over he's blushing.
"S-Sorry! I'm in a hurry."
I say jumping into my skirt.
I pull over my shirt and slide into my shoes.
"Uh, bye"
Haruki says.
"Sorry! I'll be back later!"
I yell while closing the door.

I hope he'll be okay at the house all alone.
