Well, here it is. The big one. Caleo. The probable main couple for Trials of Apollo.

Another great reason not to read the series!

Yeah yeah, go ahead and whine. I can't stand this couple. It's not the worst thing ever, but it just pisses me off. 

For one thing, I've never liked Leo. Yeah, yeah, go ahead and whine louder. Even since Lost Hero I could not get into Leo. Sure, he can be funny, but overall he's just so whiny. 

Like, yes, everyone except maybe Annabeth and Reyna are whiny, from the main cast of Heroes of Olympus, but holy shit does Leo take it to a WHOLE new level. His POV was mostly him just complaining about loosing his mother and about pretty much everything else. Usually I am so enthusiastic about characters having close relationships with their mothers because I can identify with them, and I don't mind seeing a character being stuck on a past. I love Pearl from Steven Universe, who is a perfect example of that. But Leo just doesn't have much else of interest besides that detail, the death of a parent is a trope that we've seen hundreds of times and you really need to make it FEEL different and meaningful if you want your character to stand out. Leo does not do that. 

Besides, Leo doesn't have much character besides the loosing the mom thing. Fire powers? Group fixer? Goof-off? These are all stuff that I've seen before, and besides being kinda funny and doing a kinda cool stunt with fire, he doesn't add anything to it. 

So how do you expect me to like him more when his feelings of loosing his mother are then reduced to him feeling left out of the group because everyone else has a love interest (UGH) to then have his problems magically solved because TRUE WUV FIXES EVERYTHING D'AWWWWWWW CALEO 10EVER. (UUUUUUUUGGGGGGGHHHHHHH).

Good job Rick! You destroyed an already bad character (how do you even do this??) by making his obvious troubling deppression that should have been dealt at with medical attention and reducing his love for his mom with a random love interest whom you also destroyed by showing, once again, that nobody has any fucking idea that no, romantic love is NOT the most powerful thing ever, and certainly not more powerful than maternal love.

Did I mention that Rick made Calypso completely unlikable despite the fact that I actually used to really like her, and found her so interesting? And that it's gross that she is not allowed to take a break from heartbreak because HEAVEN FORBID ANYBODY BE SINGLE! BEING SINGLE IS EVIL! Oh and also their dumb love-hate thing is not at all entertaining or original and it is out of character for Calypso and makes fun of her pretty terrible situation.

Is there ANYTHING good that came out of Caleo? At all? Really, nothing good came out of it. Leo left his FUCKING FRIENDS THAT HE WAS WHINING THAT HE WAS NEVER GOING TO BE LOVED BY THEM AND MADE THEM BELIEVE HE WAS DEAD FOR A GIRL HE KNEW FOR A SHORT AMOUNT OF TIME. How do you excuse shitty behavior like this? Why does the fandom keep excusing him? Why does the fandom still go nuts for this ship? I need to stop thinking about it now, it's just making me angry. I need to take a breath and stop

Sorry to end today's chapters on a bad note but this is bugging me....that and the next ship is not much better, so yeah, I won't really stop ranting for now.
