I do like this ship. If no other guy around Magnus's age is introduced, this will be the only gay ship we could have in terms of seeing Magnus with a guy. It's kinda cute. I like how contrasting they are: Magnus is the son of a nature god (technically?) and his power is healing despite the fact that he's more rude and sassy, while TJ is the son of a war god who seems to be more optimistic and friendly. I enjoy the idea of TJ respecting Magnus's boundaries but still showing him affection and care. It's like Solangelo, but done right.
If I do have a criticism for this ship, is that I do think it's a little boring. This isn't the ship's fault, or the fan's fault, but we don't really know much about TJ, and that only helps for us to just see him as all happy-go-lucky and see Jefferchase as a pretty generic yaoi couple. I still think Jefferchase is cute, but so far it still feels pretty generic. Or maybe I'm just getting tired of seeing the optimistic friendly guy with the rude and cynical guy because I've seen it so many times already. There's also the fact that TJ seems to be a lot similar to Magnus's mother, which could turn Magnus off from seeing him in a romantic light.
Overall, I can say that I like it, even though I am not really crazy over it, at least so far. The new Magnus Chase book is coming out in October, so maybe we'll see more of TJ that can make Jefferchase more interesting or fluffy, but so far, I like Jefferchase as a pretty cute but more okay ship.
