New Earth Pt. 1

"So where are we going?" Rose asked the Doctor

"Further than we've ever gone before," he opened the door and me and Rose stepped out to see a massive city across the river, flying cars zooming overhead "It's the year five billion and twenty three. We're in the galaxy M87, and this? This is New Earth,"

"That's just..."

"Not bad. Not bad at all," he grinned

"That's amazing." I stated "I'll get used to this. Never. I mean with my brothers, we traveled a lot, but this..." I spun around "Different ground beneath my feet, different sky." I laughed

"What's that smell?" Rose questioned

"Apple grass," he told her

"Apple grass,"

"Yeah, yeah,"

"It's beautiful. Oh, I love this. Can I just say, travelling with you, I love it,"

"Me too. Come on," he spread out his long coat like a picnic blanket and we all sat on it. "So, the year five billion, the sun expands, the Earth gets roasted,"

"That was our first date," I quirked an eyebrow at her term

"We had chips." The Doctor nodded "So anyway, planet gone, all rocks and dust, but the human race lives on, spread out across the stars. Soon as the Earth burns up, oh yeah, they get all nostalgic, big revival movement, but then find this place. Same size as the Earth, same air, same orbit. Lovely. Call goes out, the humans move in,"

"What's the city called?" I asked him

"New New York,"

I snorted "Oh, come on,"

"It is. It's the city of New New York. Strictly speaking, it's the fifteenth New York since the original, so that makes it New New New New New New New New New New New New New New New York." I noticed how Rose was looking at him, and even he noticed "What?"

"You're so different,"

He pointed to himself "New New Doctor,"

I stood up "Can we go and visit New New York, so good they named it twice?"

"Well, I though we might go there first," he pointed to an elegantly pair of curved skyscrapers standing apart from the city.

"Why, what is it?"

"Some sort of hospital. Green moon on the side. That's the universal symbol for hospitals..."

Dean laid on a bed intubated, Sam standing behind me with a protective arm holding on to me as if, if he let go I would drift away too, the Doctor explaining his situation "He sustained serious injury: blood loss, contusions to his liver and kidney. But it's the head trauma I'm worried about. There's early signs of cerebral edema,"

"Well, what can we do?"

"Well, we won't know his full condition until he wakes up. If he wakes up,"

I walked back to John's room carrying a cup of coffee. Looking into the room I saw my worst fears "Dad?!" I dropped the cup and ran to his side screaming for help

"I'll call it. Time of death: 10:41 AM,"

I shook my head zoning back on the conversation "Someone wants to see me,"

"Hmm. And I thought we were just sight-seeing. Come on, then. Let's go and buy some grapes," I followed behind as we entered the hospital reception.

Rose noticed my look "Bit rich coming from you,"

"I can't help it. I don't like hospitals,"

"They give me the creeps," The Doctor told us
