She'd said that she loved me.

And I'd said that I loved her back.

But it wasn't genuine, was it?

She'd meant it in a friendly way, overcome with emotion over her present.

Right?

But God, did I wish that she'd meant it for real.

I'd fallen in love with her, hard.

I told Tyler the next day.

"Dude, I don't know what to do. We're so close but it's starting to hurt now, man."

"What do you mean?"

"Like, we're constantly together, and hugging, and we cuddle to sleep, but it's all friendly. It hurts that she doesn't know I love her."

Tyler clapped me on the shoulder.

"Then tell her."

I groaned and covered my face with my hands.

"But how? I haven't loved anyone since Debby and I don't want to get my heart crushed again."

"Oh my God, you're oblivious. Listen, she really does love you too. I don't want to sound cliche, but I've seen the way she looks at you. Ask Jenna, she sees it too."

Jenna suddenly walked in. "Ask me what?"

"Tell Josh about how Liz feels about him."

"Oh wow, that girl loves you."

Tyler smirked. "See?"

I punched him in the shoulder.

"Fine, I'll tell her."
