Chapter 4- New boy nerves.

(unedited)

Christian woke up, stretching his arms and sighing, that was some dream I had last night, but I 've never felt so relaxed and refreshed after a sleep! Maybe I need to visit angels in my dreams more often! he thought to himself.

Opening his eyes, his heart started to beat hard in his chest--surely yesterday was only a dream, wasn't it? He looked around the room and saw one of the boys, Leon if he remembered correctly, sitting on his bed reading. The other two, Nathan and Pavo were sat on the chairs at the table, doing homework he guessed.

Leon suddenly noticed he was awake.

"Heya new boy. Have a good sleep?" he smiled.

" Fantastic thanks " he replied. " I have never slept so well in my life! "

Nathan and Pavo came over, on hearing voices.

"Heya Christian " they both said.

"Hi guys, good to see you both-- Nathan and Pavo, isn't it ? "

The lads smiled at him, remembering how confusing their first day had been at the school.

" If you want to get dressed, we can go and get breakfast, no, scratch that, lunch, when you are ready. Do you want to take a shower first? " Nathan asked him.

Christian just stood looking at him, a little embarrassed. He only had the clothes he stood in with him, which consisted of pyjamas, jogpants, a hoodie and three pairs of socks, all of which were sonewhat the worse for wear, thanks to clambering down his trellis and landing on the wet grass!

Realising his embarrassment, Pavo leant over and pulled open the dresser drawers; stepping across to the otherside, he flung open the closet doors. Every possible type of clothes that Christian could ever need was packed into his dresser and wardrobe. Everything from jeans, t-shirts, jumpers, hoodies and all designer labels, like Converse baseball shoes to Diesel and Animal jeans. Christian couldn't believe his luck- all of these clothes, all for him!

In the corner of his closet was his uniform, which he supposed was for school-days. All white shirt and jumper with his house logo on, black trousers and a white cape type thing, again with his Pisces house logo on it. It just all looked so totally unreal, yet he couldn't wait to start!

Christian grabbed some clothes, shouted that he would be right back and having a quick shower, he ran back into the room, almost sliding head first into Leon.

"Sorry" he muttered, his head down. Idiot, he thought, the first time I try to interact and I end up looking like a total dick!! Nice going, you stupid boy! His thoughts echoed those that he had been called all his life, both at home and school.

"Christian, it's cool" said Leon, " Nobody here is going to laugh at you if you slip up, say something unusual or do something different from the norm. You can totally be yourself here--it is a place where no-one will judge you and everyone fits in. Please, don't worry!"

Christian grinned from cheek to cheek, he really felt as if he finally had found a place he could be himself.

"Okay then guys, I guess I am ready to face the others. Can you just do me a favour and stick with me? I'm feeling kinda ,well, scared to death!!

"Don't worry" Nathan replied, "as a new recruit myself, we will be seated together on the house table for first years and be in all our lessons together. As they only recruit once a year here, it means we are all new together in the first few days. I will look out for you, but trust me, you will be fine! "

They all left the dorm and walked through the marble, domed hall and into the open grounds. Walking along a path of cloud was incredibly weird, but he supposed he'd get used to it!

They reached an entrance with a solid, heavy silver door, with a sign saying "Dining Hall" on it. Pavo pushed it open and an almost deafening roar of chatter erupted from the room. As they walked in, however, the entire room came to a halt and silence ensued.

"Don't panic" Pavo muttered, "this is where you will be introduced to those who were on night duties last night."

Upon entering the dining hall, Christian saw huge round tables, each stamped with the year and house logos. At the very front if the room sat the "Magisters" or teachers, along with the Supervisors. Only half of the seats were taken on the Supervisors side, as the rest were on missions with the third years or undergraduate student guardian angels.

Pavo hurried Christian forward to the front of the room, where the magisters were seated.

The head magister for the first years stood up:

"I would like to introduce everyone to Christian Sawyer. As we don't use surnames here, you will be known as Christian, angel number 1308 until you are an undergraduate, at the start of year three, when you will be re-named after a star constellation that suits your personality. This is when you start your supervised missions and graduate once your Supervisor thinks you are ready. Until then, please everybody welcome Christian to the Pisces house and help him to settle in. As you all know, your break for recruiting fortnight is over and it is back to lessons tomorrow. So, for now, enjoy!

This was followed by a huge round of applause as everyone clapped a stunned Christian on the back as he made his way to his house table.

He rubbed his eyes as his looked around the tables-- the first years like himself were speaking in an excited babble to each other, with the second years speaking to each other with a sort of more lazy camaraderie.

It was the third years that drew Christians attention the most though. Girls and boys alike had a beautiful, pale gold aura surrounding them, with a halo--like shimmer around their head area. He saw Lacerta, his female Mentor who he had met on arrival--still believing she was the most beautiful creature he had ever laid eyes on! She waved and smiled, causing Christian to blush as red as a tomato and he quickly averted his eyes.

Nathan chuckled by his side, but not in a nasty manner.

" Don't worry!" he said grinning, " I still blush when I see her too! You and I have her and Star as our Mentors for two years and then we get a Supervisor in the third year. I hope Lacerta is qualified by then! " he said, this time blushing as much as Christian!

" I think we can both surmise that she is well out of our league then! " he agreed, grinning back at his new friend.

" Too true. " Nathan smiled and then, lowering his voice to a whisper added, " but have you looked around our table, because there are some beautiful girls of our age AND they actually speak to us, instead of looking at us like we just crawled out of a drain--pipe!"

Christians' grin was growing wider by the second. He really liked Nathan and thought they would be good friends--a concept to which he was not used to. Looking all around the great Hall, at the tables brimming with food, the smiling faces and the relaxed ambience, he was mighty glad that he had decided to come here with Star. It was going to be the start of a good life finally, he thought and ate his breakfast dreamily, still trying to take in his surroundings. Better than

his Earth life anyway!!
