Chapter 30- Not even an angel can fight the magnet called love!

Destrodia--04:00hours.

Despite the fact that many darksiders preferred the night hours, those who worked on Earth to Intercept, Stalk or Break light angels did not get the choice--Guardonians rarely stayed out passed 20:00 hours and now, due to all of the devastation caused recently, they often retreated before it became dark.

Deus, having been in a class of his own in all of the 'angel-damaging' areas for the past three years, was not used to sleeping at night, yet it didn't feel as if this was the problem.

He could not stop thinking about Guardonia and how to go for a visit--ever since Naomi had returned there it was all he could think of, both night and day.

It wasn't Naomi herself that was drawing Deus there either--he just felt, no he knew, that his mate would be found there.

It wouldn't be the first time that Casus Belli, the leader of both the light and darksiders had decided to challenge one of his own; the problem Deus had was what to do about it?

He knew his work was being affected, no longer having the urge to recruit new blood or to attack light angels; his brain was constantly aching with the effort of trying to shield his thoughts from everyone in his World.

He had seen the punishment for treason-- it was often used as a way of 'blooding the new recruits', where basically Malum or Cariousus decided the guilt of the offender (he had yet to see one pronounced not guilty--it was a sport they enjoyed too much) and let 30-40 dark angels do exactly what they wanted to the traitor in order to punish him.

Naturally this always ended in death, but depending on how sadistic the group were, it could take up to two weeks to finally die and descend to Purgatory--at this stage, the poor lad Nik was begging them to take his life and he, along with the rest of Destrodia had laughed, spat in his face and jeered at him to 'stop being a coward' and 'die like a Darksider".

Deus was actually appalled with his own past behaviour; sure, he had enjoyed reaking havoc on Guardonia and was one of the best, yet he was still heavily grieving for baby Kara and was finding a way of dealing with her loss when he was 'recruited'.

Once his training had commenced, he was left with zero time to think or reflect and simply channelled all of his energy into learning and fighting.

However, something had changed in his whole being--he no longer wanted to hunt and hurt people; Deus wanted to meet his mate, begin a family and make up for all he had done wrong--atone for his sins he supposed.

His time with Naomi was like a jolt to his system and he knew he had to act fast to plan his escape, before he was discovered and expelled....or worse.

Sitting bolt upright in bed, his decision made, he rested back, with a small grin on his face--tomorrow he would go to Earth and try his hand at recruiting......that is becoming a 'recruit' of sorts for Guardonia.

Nervous for probably the first time in his life, or the first time he had ever admitted it to himself, he settled back into his mountain of pillows, stomach fluttering as if he were a teenage girl waiting for her prom date to arrive, he threaded his fingers together and rested them on his stomach--all being well, this time tomorrow he would be in Guardonia.

Suddenly, he sat bolt upright in his bed again, the thought entering his head and dampening his spirits enough to turn his butterflies into lead.

There was no way whatsoever that the Guardonians would accept him as one of them; unfortunately for Deus, he had such an outstanding, evil reputation that, if they were to catch him, they would lock him up and never accept his presence, unless......the idea that came to him as if a bolt of lightning struck his mind was sublime.
