Chapter 7-Becoming an angel 101.
(unedited)
Nathan led a dreaming Christian through a labyrinth of corridors to get to his classroom, having been shown himself by Leon several times, awkward as it was to find.
Christian was still staring off into space, unable to get the image of Sagitta out of his mind. She was so beautiful, he thought. A real live pure angel, who glimmered with light and a sparkly essense. She even was hovering several inches off the ground, yet this didn't even seem weird, just very, very beautiful and delicate.
Nathan nudged Christian, for the third time and grinned.
" If you think you've got it bad now mate, wait 'til you meet our class. They are all the most gorgeous girls' you have ever seen, the bonus being they actually talk to us as if they like us! "
Christian flushed red, embarrassed that his new friend had so totally read what he was thinking about; he wasn't sure he could handle girls' that actually liked and talked to him--scary as hell.
Nathan stopped outside Room 101, which was marked as "Basic angel training. "
Upon entering the room, the sheer size of it made both of them take a deep breath and simply freeze on the spot, but turning round slowly, like a carousel at a fair ground.
The entire room was white, with goldleaf covering every nook and cranny in the room. The floor was made of a glassy looking black marble, that sparkled from the dozens of glass chandelers hanging from the massive expanse of the ceiling.
Black desks and chairs made a semi-circular seating area for the students, with a electronic notebook on each.
The room looked as if it could hold about 200 students and it was already half full.
There seemed to be an even mix of girls and boys, all thirteen years old. Already, it was clear to see who had been here since the beginning of recruitment, from those who were new, as they exuded a quiet confidence and were at ease with their fellow students. Despite Christians' fears, all of the people in the room were friendly and smiled as he and Nathan passed.
They both chose seats in the middle section-not too nerdy at the front and not too rebellious at the back.
Instantly, their netbooks opened and showed a front screen with their names, angel number, seat/student number and rank.
Christians' seat and student number was 22-7 and his rank was trainee floating angel, whatever that meant! Nathans' was 22-8 and he was a trainee grounded angel.
They both looked at each other and shrugged- hopefully they would learn what this all meant during lesson time today.
Suddenly, the room became deathly still and quiet; a static-like buzz could be felt all over the room and Christian had to fight the urge to shudder, as all the hairs on his arms stood to attention.
The man , or spiritual being who had entered the room wore white canvas-type clothes, a little like a karate outfit, but softer looking.
He had golden hair that was tied back with a leather bootlace and gold wings that had a span of about four feet. These had a sheen that made them glint and gleam in the light thrown off by the chandeliers and made every student in the room stare, with obvious envy.
"Hello class" he said, in a strong booming voice, that didn't fit with his look somehow.
" My name is Pictor. I will be your Magister for some of the first two years of your guardian angel training. After that, you will become an under-graduate, as long as you work and train hard. Some student angels must stay for longer, but this will not happen if you study hard.
