Chapter 20 -Too soon to grow up.(unedited).
Everyone in Guardonia that were physically able to attend the meeting were jam-packed like sardines into the Great Hall.
As previously mentioned by Pictor, all of the third years received their wings, with the exception of two boys and a girl, triplets ironically, who due to their immense psychic bond to each other, did not respond to training as fast as the rest of the third years.
Simon, Jude and Natasha were quietly reassured that, despite not receiving their wings, were equally important to Guardonia--both Simon and Jude had outstanding technological skills and would be a real asset in the communications department, whilst Natasha was a clearly different Guardonian altogether but they reassured her she would find her fortè soon enough.
Ever since her first day of living in Guardonia she had kept her defences up; nobody was her friend despite making a huge effort, as she snubbed all attempts at friendship.
In lessons she was seriously intelligent, yet seemed to lack any motivation to achieve anything.
The senior staff had desperately tried to help her, but they still did not know why she acted as she did. Her brothers' were sociable, outgoing and lovable, yet she was introverted, cold and hard-hearted.
Nobody knew what she had suffered in her life on Earth; Adriano had actually found her balancing on the edge of her appartment block, eighteen floors up and even her brothers, inside the building did not know she was out there or even why.
The Thomson triplets were a bit of an enigma--Adriano had felt their distress at living on Earth, hence why he recruited them, but he could only sense their deep discontent and never the reasons why they were so unhappy.
After several inconspicuous visits and many long hours of discussion with the HeadMagister, it was decided to bring them in, hoping they would thrive and eventually open up to what monstrosities they had faced on Earth.
Simon and Jude settled in immediately and were well liked by all in a short space of time, but for Natasha things were different.
She made no friends, neither did she want to. She had internally repressed what had happenned to her on Earth, yet she was the only person in the entire land of Guardonia that was not content.
Adriano naturally, felt he had let her down; he tried and tried to involve her in groups, introduce her to people and try to help her one on one. Nothing worked; the only time she appeared content was when she was reading, which was as much as possible and she was always absorbed in the text, with a tiny smile on her face that she probably didn't even know was there.
She answered questions in class and was of higher intellect than most, yet would communicate with her brothers alone.
Needless to say, Natasha had given Pictor, the Head and Adriano many sleepless nights.
Natasha herself dreamed of being happy. All she wanted was friends, a carefree attitude and a teenage lifestyle, but something stopped her from achieving these things.
On Earth, she had been bullied physically, verbally and psychologically, both at school and at home.
Her brothers watched her change from a self confident ten year old, to a shell of a person, undernourished, depressed and uncommunicative. They didn't know about the bullying either at home or school; the boys went to an all-boys school and the bully at home was very careful to choose her moments.
Her mother was an evil, cold-hearted bitch of a woman who doted on her two boys and hated the sight of her daughter. Carrying triplets took its toll on a womans body and the prettier Natasha got, the more vile her mother became.
