Chapter 15 - Breaker's Bounty.

(unedited).

Earth: 21:00 hrs (later than angels' should ever risk being out!)

Deus rose to his feet, one foot tapping the tip of his shoe on the dirty concrete, as a cold, evil smirk crept over his face.

Had he been not pure evil, his looks could have been Hollywood perfect, with his marble-white complexion and chiselled chin and cheekbones; in the current situation however, it just enhanced the cold hatred eminating from his entire body.

His gaze first began with Lacerta, who despite her few years of experience was outwardly quivering, reminding Naomi almost of a field of wheat being bowed in the wind.

Deus's penetrating stare continued all over Lacerta's body, making her squirm in disgust inwardly, but too terrified to say a word.

His smile widened--this was how Deus enjoyed his victims, frozen with terror and he intended to extend the fear for as long as he could. It was much like a cat toying with a mouse and not wanting the fun to end.

Leaving Lacerta's terror-stricken face with a wink, he turned his attention to Naomi, who despite her insides quivering like jelly, was determined not to give him the satisfaction of seeing just how scared she was.

Deus reached forward and stroked a long, filthy nail gently down her cheek. It took all of her will not to gag at that point--the intimate caress was anything but and made all the hairs on her arms stand up in fright.

"Well, well. A brave new GA in our midst, eh? Do you know what we call you where I come from?" Deus sneered as Naomi turned her head away from him, refusing to play his game.

"Tsk, Tsk, little girl," he purred, suddenly grabbing her ponytail and yanking her chin upwards, leaving her no choice but to face him.

"How rude to ignore your superior, were you not taught manners at angel school?" he spat out.

"Are you not aware of what I am and what I am going to do to you?"

Naomi tried to shake her head defiantly, only to feel his grasp on her hair tighten, as he wrapped it round his huge hand.

"All of the stories you have both been told about us Breakers are true; we enjoy causing pain and watching angels suffer. It's a little like pulling the wings off a fly and watching it try to move--such fun. You see, we cannot let you come down here and save everyone, where would the fun in that be?" he continued, keeping his vice-like grip on Naomis' hair.

Lacerta could keep quiet no more,

"Get off her, you bastard." she screamed, in a completely unangelic manner. If you want a GA to boast about back in Destrodia, then bring it on!" she shouted, adopting a defensive stand.

Deus threw his head back and laughed cruelly.

"Oh, how naivè you are, little one. Do you really think you are in any position to negotiate with me? I may even take both of you, but one thing is for certain, I will not relinquish this gorgeous, untainted creature no matter what you try. It has been 310 years since I found a new one and they taste sooo divine." he grinned, licking his lips as if anticipating the taste.

Lacerta glanced around the warehouse; hand-to-hand combat only taught them so much and the strategy when facing a Breaker had always been to get out of there-- an idea she would not even consider, not with Deus gripping tightly onto Naomi.

She suddenly spotted a broken pallet nearby; it may not hurt him, but if a swipe across the head could cause him to lose his hold on Naomi, then she may be able to grab her and transport her back to Guardonia. It was a risky move, but she had little choice; nobody would come looking for them yet awhile as a first mission regularly ran over and the Eripio squad would not be dispatched unless, heaven forbid, anything bad happenned to either one of them.
