Chapter 26-Light at the end of the tunnel?

(unedited)

Guardonia- 05:00hours.

Natasha was awake early; she was excited that last night Tash and Angel had invited her to hang out with them, watching films and throwing popcorn at one another--she finally felt as if she was beginning to fit into Guardonia and was even meeting the girls for breakfast.

Smiling widely, which was a foreign movement to her recently, she got dressed and headed to the hall for a long, leisurely breakfast; she was certain today would be a big day and didn't want to stop to eat!

Another reason she was on such a high was the antidote she had prepared would be ready this morning. She was certain that, if all Guardonians were innoculated against the oddity that Naomi was carrying in her blood, then all of the angels could leave quarantine and it would be all down to her hard work. Things were looking up and life was great--all she had to do was persuade Pictor to let her use herself as a test subject and all of this nastiness could be over; things could begin to get back to normal again and angel patrols could seek out more recruits.

However, unknown to Natasha, the Destrodia spy planted in Guardonia also had access to the labs.

Upon seeing that she was exactly right about the immunisation, he had crept into the lab in the dead of night, unnoticed by anyone and swapped Natashas' genuine cure for one containing a deadly strain of stomach flu that would prove potentially fatal to anyone that it was administered to.

With an evil chuckle, the spy had taken the genuine cure back to his room, grinning at the fact his room-mates never stirred.

Tucking the antidote safetly away, he climbed into bed, his arms crossed under his pillows and his head resting on top.

He may not have been to Earth yet, but he could still carry out Cariousus' wishes from right here.

Leaning further back on his pillows and snuggling deeper into his quilt, Tash's boyfriend Finn grinned to himself; sick and sadistic thoughts flowing through his head as he thought of the devestation his replacement immunisation was going to cause!

Finn had been an oddity on Earth; he had two close friends who were bullies and just plain nasty kids--their idea of fun was tying a firework to a cats' tail and lighting it, just to eatch the poor cat squeal in agony.

Finn did not always agree with the acts his friends carried out, but they were bigger and more aggressive than he was, so he just kept his mouth shut and carried on, laughing wheb they did and hitting some poor kid just because they decided to.

The boys deeds became worse and worse; knocking on old peoples doors, asking to use the phone and sending Finn to 'use the toilet' and rob them.

This came to a head when a 92 year old man put up a fight and Finns friends layed into him, kicking him unconcious on the floor and although he didn't join in, Finn was there and too scared to stop them.

However, as teenage boys' have big mouths, the community soon knew who had carried out this abherrent attack and the police arrested all three of the boys for attempted manslaughter.

Unfortunately for Finn, one boy, Mikey was the son of the local MP and the other, Tristan the son of the local chief of police and needless to say, both had top lawyers and even 'alibis' for the night in question.

Finns' upbringing was entirely different; brought up by a single parent, who worked all hours just to make ends meet and living on a notoriously bad council estate that even the police were afraid to visit after dark.
