Leanne's POV

"Watch'a doing?" I smile going into the living and Michael is sitting on the sofa writing something. "just going over some last minute stuff, before your party this weekend" he smiles and pulls me onto the sofa with him and pecks my lips.

"You know you don't have to do all this" I smile looking at what he's been writing. "I know, but I want to" him smiles taking his notes back from me. "Now are you sure you don't want a bouncy castle?"

"I'm sure" I giggle and roll my eyes playfully. "100%? Because I seen some really cool ones and..."
"You mean YOU want a bouncy castle?" I ask raising an eyebrow. "Kinda" he mumbles, looking a little embrassed. "Fine" I roll my eyes playfully and giggle at the excited look in Michael's face as he adds it to his list.

"I have to run to the mall with my mother soon to pick up some stuff for the party. Will you be ok here while I'm gone?" He asks, once he's finished writing. "I will, but i'll come with you. I need to get some stuff anyway"

"Nope. You can't come" he shakes his head. "Why not?" I frown confused. "Because I'm going to get your presents too"

"What are you getting me?" I ask casually "you'll have to wait and see" he smirks raising an eyebrow at me. "I'll see you later" he smiles and kisses me softly, then breaks away and head out to meet his mother.

I have mixed emotions about the party this weekend. I'm excited, because I'm going to be 17 and get to have a party, but I'm also upset because even though it won't be entirely the same as last year, but just like last year I won't get to be with my parents. It's going to be the second birthday I've had since they died and I still hate not being with them, especially on birthdays and I can't even go to their grave to visit them which makes it even harder.

Michael's POV

"I think she'd really like this one" I smile picking out a beautiful necklace with a heart shaped pendant on it.

"You don't think it's all a bit much?" Mother says and I look at her confused. "It's only $6,000" I shrug. "I'm not talking about the necklace. I'm talking about all this? The party, the gifts. I understand if she was turning 18, but 17 isn't really a big thing" she shrugs.

"I know, but last year was the worst birthday she ever had because she was... there" I mumble that last part. "And it was the first birthday she had without her parents, which is why I wanna make this year as perfect as possible. I know she'll still be upset about not having her mom and dad with her, but I can still do other stuff to make the day as happy as possible for her" I smile slightly.

"I'm guessing she's been visiting their grave alot lately, with her birthday coming up and all" She says sympatheticly and I shake my head and sigh. "She doesn't know where they are, so she's never been able to go"

"How can she not know? Surely they'd be buried closed to the church the funeral took place" she frowns confused. "She wasn't allowed to go to the funeral. Mary made her. You know? 'Work' that day" I mutter "and she refused to tell her where they were buried so she couldn't visit them"

"That poor girl" she sighs sympatheticly. "Which is why this year has to go perfect" I smile changing the topic slightly.

After all the shopping is done, my mother and I are about to leave the mall when I hear someone shout my name and me and my mother turn and see Emma and Mia walking over to us. "Aren't those the whores from that brothel?" Mother says in a hushed tone and I smile through purse lips, ignoring her comment as they walk over.

"I'm sorry I know we're not supposed talk to clients in the public but..."

"EX client!" Mother scoffs, cutting Emma off. "We um... we just wondered if Leanne was Ok now?" she mutter's feeling akward, due to my mother giving her and Mia death stares.
