So I am going through something really hard right now and I don't know when I'll be able to focus on my actual books so if I don't update in a few days, or if the chapters are really crappy, I just thought you should know something is going on.
And to raise my mood a bit, I'm writing this bonus chapter of one of my two favorite couples. *insert weak smile here*
Omg, I seem so morbid.
BONUS CHAPTER 14 Jerlan vs. Maeder
~Ryder: Age 18~
Apparently, Jerome's subscribers have been asking him for a competition between him and Nolan, and me and Mae to see which couple knew each other the most.
I didn't see the point of it. I mean, obviously Mae and I knew each other the best.
We were just waiting for Nolan to come to the apartment and in the meantime, Jerome was waiting for his brownies to finish baking in the oven, and I was in agonizing pain because the smell was making my stomach growl.
I walked to the kitchen and opened the fridge, seeing nothing there. "Mae! We're out of food!"
Mae walked into the kitchen. "What are you talking about? Jerome just go groceries yesterday."
"Yeah, but there's nothing in the fridge," I said.
"I see a lot of food," Mae said. "Look, there's fruits and veggies, dip, chocolate milk...."
"Technically, chocolate milk is a beverage."
"Is he always like this?" Jerome asked.
"You have no idea," Mae said. "He corrects basically everything I say that he thinks is wrong."
"Not everything," I said. "Most things."
"See? Another correction."
I rolled my eyes and pulled out a can of soda and closed the fridge right as the front door opened. I looked over, seeing my brother walk in. "Don't you ever knock?" I asked.
"Don't you ever lock the door?" Nolan asked. "Seriously. Someone could have just walked in and stole all the bacon."
"Don't make me think of that cruel thing," I said. "Who would ever steal my bacon?"
"I can because you don't lock the door," Nolan said.
The oven suddenly beeped, so Jerome quickly got up from the couch and turned off the oven before pulling the brownies out. Nolan walked over and peered at the brownies. "Ooh, brownies," he said. "Can I have one?"
"No," Jerome said sarcastically. "I made them all for me and none for my boyfriend. You'll have to wait for them to cool down and in the meantime, we'll do the couple challenge. Which, by the way, Maeder is going to lose."
"Uh huh," I said before pulling Mae to the couch where Jerome's camera was set up.
Jerome grabbed a can of soda for both him and Nolan both they sat down on the couch as well. "So, you guys know how this works, right?" Jerome asked. "I got my subscribers to ask questions. Nolan and I will ask questions for you two, and you'll ask questions for us. Simple enough."
"Simple enough that you'll lose," I said.
"You want to bet on that?" Jerome said.
Mae sighed. "You two need to stop turning everything into a competition."
"Yes, just start the video," Nolan said.
"Fine," Jerome said, before starting the camera. He gave a quick introduction and went over how the challenge would work. He then picked up his phone and pulled up the questions. "So, Ryder. This one is for you. What is Mae's favorite flower?"
"Easy, lily of the valley," I said.
"Ah, yes, the flowers that will be at your wedding," Jerome said. "Next question for Ryder. What is Mae's favorite color?"
"Green," I said. "Come on, these are easy questions."
"I never confirmed it's green," Mae said.
"It is green," I said.
"Yeah, it is."
I rolled my eyes and kissed her cheek before Jerome asked me three more questions, which I got all right. Jerome then asked Mae five questions and like I figured, she got all of them right.
"See? We got this in the bag," I said as Jerome passed me the phone. "So, little brother."
"I'm not little," Nolan said. "We're almost the same height."
"Shush," I said. "Younger brother, what is Jerome's favorite food?"
"Anything that's edible," Nolan said.
"Well, that's true," Jerome said. "But more specifically?"
"Uh...."
"You don't know it?" Jerome asked.
"Hold on, I'm thinking," Nolan said. "Is it....Poutine? It is poutine, right?"
Jerome smiled. "It is poutine."
I asked Nolan four more questions, one of which he got wrong and Jerome ended up pouting over it, especially because Jerome got all of the questions right.
"I think Nolan doesn't like me as much as I like him," Jerome said.
"Come on, it's not my fault I don't know your favorite video game," Nolan said. "I just got into gaming myself. It's Ryder's fault for picking the question. He knew I would get it wrong."
"Don't hate the player, hate the game," I said.
"You cheater," Jerome said.
"It's not cheating, it's playing to my strengths," I said. "I used my knowledge about Nolan's lack of video game knowledge."
Jerome huffed and looked at the camera. "I guess that brings us to the end of the couple challenge," he said. "If you have any other suggestions, think of something that Ryder will for sure lose because he's too competitive and probably hasn't lost a single thing in his life."
"That's....Hold on, let me think of something," I said. "Would dance competitions count?"
"Did you lose any duet competitions or solos?"
"Uh....Trick question?"
"Yeah, my point exactly," Jerome said, looking back at the camera. "Remember, I vlog almost daily and put them together in a single video posted on Saturdays, and I usually do videos with Nolan every other Friday. See you next time!"
