ALTERNATE CHAPTER 8: Jerome Roy | Part VII
~Jerome: age 17~
Spring break was over and now I had to, unfortunately, go back to school. I missed spending time, you know, not doing homework. At least I had about two and a half months left of school. I just hoped it went by quickly.
In my biology class, my teacher had a project he wanted everyone to do in groups of three and to make things easier, he chose the groups.
And he put me with not only Mae but Ryder too.
It was official.
My boyfriend's uncle hated me.
Ryder wasn't happy about it as well. As soon as Mr. McCormick said that the three of us were in a group, Ryder immediately glared at me.
And because I was a petty person, I decided to make him very annoyed at lunch time.
By being very affectionate with Nolan.
Ryder definitely wasn't homophobic or anything. In fact, as it turned out, Nolan's whole family was one-hundred percent okay with it. Ryder just hated me and hated seeing his little brother being affectionate with someone.
I was a bit surprised Nolan was okay with being affectionate at school but hey, I wasn't complaining. We were at a table in the school courtyard and he was sitting on my lap with one arm hanging loosely around my shoulder while he used his other one to steal my lunch. I didn't even mind, though. He was too cute for me to get mad for eating my food.
"You two are such a cute couple," Orchid said which made Nolan smile.
"They're not that cute," Ryder said.
"Oh, shut up, Ryder," Orchid said. "You're just mad that you're not the one dating Jerome."
"What? No," Ryder said. "I'm mad because they're nauseating."
"So in other news, me kissing Nolan will get you really mad?" I asked. "Good to know."
Ryder glared at me for the second time today and definitely not the last time. It was very enjoyable getting him mad so I didn't blame him for constantly glaring at me.
To get Ryder even more mad, I kissed Nolan's cheek a few times before wrapping my arms tightly around Nolan and he hugged me back, a smile still on his face. Recently, he had been smiling a whole lot and I absolutely loved his smile.
"Can you not?" Ryder asked.
"Excuse you but we sat here first," Nolan said. "You're the one who decided to join us. You could have sat at a table in the cafeteria."
"There weren't any free tables," Ryder said.
"Then that's your problem," Nolan said.
"Ooh, he's got sass," I said. Now that Nolan was talking again, I noticed that he was really sassy. He seriously wouldn't hold back on the amount of sass he gave everyone. Parents included.
I loved his sass.
Ryder didn't say anything else to else. He just scowled and went along eating his lunch.
He was really going to hate being in the same group as me for our biology project.
When lunch was over, I walked Nolan to his third period class. Before he went into the classroom, he gave me a hug. "I'll miss you," Nolan said. "I won't be able to see you in years."
