Random question before I start: Has anyone watched Stranger Things? If so, are there any jump scares? (I want to watch it but I'm a wimp lol).

Now, here's another alternate Jerlan chapter.

ALTERNATE CHAPTER 2: Jerlan Part 2

~Nolan: Age 14~

Most of my family was sitting in the living room, watching a movie as Alan came down the stairs. "I'm hungry," he whined. "Is dinner almost ready?"

"Nope," Mom said. "Your dad is still making a few more things, and we have to wait for Mae and Jerome to come over, and your grandparents."

       Wait, what?

"Why Mae and Jerome?" Alan asked.

"Because Tulip keeps asking Mae to come over for dinner," Mom said. "And Jerome is Mae's best friend and is staying with her, so we don't want him to feel left out."

Great. I was horrible at lying, and probably horrible at hiding things since my family was onto me. I mean, they were close enough by guessing I had a girlfriend because if they knew I was gay, they would have guessed it was a boyfriend.

Or they could be like Ryder and guess that it was a boyfriend anyway.

Needless to say, the last time Jerome came over was when he and Mae first moved down here, and we weren't dating then. Now, we were, and it was going to be really hard for me to hide it.

"What? No," Tulip said. "I want Mae to come, not Jerome. I don't like Jerome. Me thinks he's going to take Mae away from Ryder."

"Tulip, he isn't going to take Mae away from me," Ryder said. "I'm too awesome to be dumped."

Tulip didn't know Jerome was gay. In fact, the only people in my family that knew were me, Ryder, Orchid, and Alan. Jerome had to tell Ryder, Orchid, and Alan because they all were worried about how close Mae and Jerome were, and I just so happened to be there when Jerome told them.

"You're right," Tulip said. "It won't happen. Not if I eliminate him first."

       "Tulip!" Mom said.

"What?" Tulip asked. "Aren't you worried for your future daughter-in-law?"

"No, I'm not," Mom said. "Guys and girls can be best friends."

"Uh huh," was all Tulip said.

There was a knock on the door, so Ryder went to answer it. As soon as Tulip saw Mae, she ran over and gave her a hug.

       Then she saw Jerome.

"No, you have to leave," Tulip said.

"What does she have against me?" Jerome asked.

"She thinks you're going to try to steal Mae from me," Ryder said.

"Ew, no," Jerome said, which made Mae raise her eyebrow. "You know what I mean, Mae."

"So, you aren't going to try to take Mae away from Ryder?" Tulip asked.

"Of course not," Jerome said. "It would be kind of hard when I ship Maeder too much, and I have a boyfriend."

Tulip furrowed her eyebrows. "A boyfriend?"

       "I like boys," Jerome said.

"Oh, okay," Tulip said. "I like you now that you can't ruin Maeder."
