Jungkook's POV

She slapped me. She legitimately slapped me.

I probably would've stood there all day, trying to figure out why the hell my chest ached in harmony with the stinging on my face.

That is, until Taehyung peeked his head inside the doorway and said, "Yah! Is it a habit to sleep while standing up for you these days, in random places?!"

I leaned against a desk, pretending that I was just lounging there all along. "It's nothing" I bluffed, hoping he wouldn't be as attentive as usual. Yeah, like a conscientious person such as him would miss the giant slap mark on my face.

Taehyung gave me an peculiar look and started to pick his way across the classroom. "Aah, jinjja. You really shouldn't waste your time. I was looking for you for so long after I left the classroom, and then couldn't find you..." he paused as he came to a stop in front of me. "What happened your face?"

"I ran into the wall. Don't worry." I lied.

"Peculiar shaped wall, to leave a handprint on your face." he said, his voice dripping with sarcasm. He scanned where the girl had hit me and furrowed his eyebrows, trying to figure out what had happened.

"Yeah. I'm special like that." I said nonchalantly, avoiding his gaze as I walked towards the door.

I knew he wasn't content with only that, but thank the gods he didn't pry any further.

Later...

I emerged from the bathroom with a towel around my waist. Then I dressed and went into the kitchen to get an icepack.

"What're we having for dinner?" I called to Taehyung halfheartedly as I grabbed one from the freezer.

"Aish, go cook dinner for yourself, you lazy fatso." came the reply from the bedroom.

I sighed, but did just that. Taehyung did seem a little tired. As I cooked, the girl's words drifted back to me.

Empathy

She's lucky I haven't sued her.

A while later...

I laid out the meal on the dining table just as Taehyung walked in with a bunch of notes in one hand, and his laptop in the other.

Feeling a sense of disbelief at the fact I had missed something, I set down the dish I was handling. "We had homework?"

"No. I'm just doing some research. Nothing special."

We had dinner, and I told myself to regain my senses.

IU's POV

I got home, and as expected, my face puffed up and my eyes swelled. Screw my genetics.

I met my brother at the front door when he was going out.

"Yah, Jingjjang (It's another one of IU's nicknames). How was school today..?" he trailed off as he saw my after-crying face.

"What's wrong? What happened?" he said, putting his hands on either side of my face.

"Jerk at school." I muttered. "I taught him a lesson though. It's ok."

Lay didn't say anything more. He embraced me in a hug and stroked the top of my head.

When he let go, I felt better than I had all afternoon, except when Taehyung gave me a tissue.

"Thanks." I said, giving him a small smile.

"Oh yeah, and Suzy is in your room. She's been going crazy waiting for you to come back from school."

"Jinjja?!?" I said, a huge smile spreading across my face, despite the lingering after-effects of my weeping.

He smiled back, patted my head, and trotted down the stairs.

Just inside the door, I was attacked by a huge fuzzball screaming, "YAAAAAH, JIEUN. I'VE MISSED YOU SO MUCH!!!! OMO!!!! YOU'VE GROWN TALLER!!!!!"

Suzy bounced up and down as she strangled me in a hug.

Laughing, I said, "Yah, I won't be able to grow any more if I die an early death!"

She relented, and stood with her hands on my shoulders, her eyes sparkling and her face shining.

"I'm gonna be living with you for the rest of the school year! And my parents emailed and called your parents and they said that it's ok! I'm so excited!" she paused for breath. "Alright, now, the question that has been killing me since I saw your face." Her excitement ebbed until her expression was completely serious. "Why were you crying?"

I told her everything. We were close enough that we have never kept anything from the other, including the grades we've had, problems in our lives, and now, jerks we've beat up.

"Wait. Jungkook? As in...JEON JUNGKOOK FROM BTS!?!?!?" she exclaimed, her eyes widening. "They're at our school!?!?!"

"Yeah, but he's a jerk and he's really mean." I whined, then pouted.

"Yaaaa, miss aegyo. You sure you don't secretly like him?" she said, elbowing me as we made our way to the living room.

"No. He's really not a nice guy." I said, shaking my head solemnly. "He's someone you need to watch out for."

Her eyes softened. "I believe you. Don't worry, I can take care of myself. Unlike someone I know." she grinned.

I smacked her arm, pouted, then gave in. I laughed right along with her, relieved.

Taking my laptop and opening it to check my email, I opened the newest one from my parents.

Jieun-ah? How was your day? Is the weather good there? Make sure to get enough sleep and eat enough today.

~Eomma

I shut the laptop and placed it to the side to go to the kitchen.

The same seemingly copy and pasted message everyday. It really wasn't worth reading yet I still read it everyday. I just don't like to have unread messages pile up in my inbox, that's why.

I haven't seen my parents for so long. They run an extremely busy company, and the fact that they work so hard is probably why it's one of the most well-known in the world.

Most people don't make the connection from my brother and I to them. Our parents had wanted us to have normal lives, or as normal lives as possible, without parents.

Yes, we're rich, and yes, my brother and I live alone. At least, that's how it was after my grandmother passed away.

I nearly chopped off my finger as I was making dinner. Maybe that would make it taste better, I thought, sighing at my cooking skills.

Leaving mission impossible eight for Suzy, I put down the knife and tried to solve the problem of how to face Jungkook the following day.

A/N: Suzy made up for the lame chapter. Yeah....  ^.^  Don't forget to vote and comment!  Love you all! Saranghaeyo! :)
