Jungkook's POV

That's it. I can't sit here anymore.

"I'm going out." I declared, getting up from my seat and walking to the door of our hotel room.

Once we had gotten off the plane, there was no plan to put into action. We drifted around the city for a bit, then settled for just reserving a room for a hotel.

I wandered out of the hotel, walking without purpose down the street. Night had settled in, and NYC was in full swing. Looking around and taking all the noise, lights, and people in, I glanced across the three-laned street and caught my breath.

A familiar, slight figure was across the street, standing in front of a building big enough that it could be an entire company just by itself. I stopped abruptly, causing whoever was behind me to give me a dirty look as he passed by.

She was speaking with someone beside a limousine, and I watched as another person came up from behind her to talk to the guy. They seemed to converse for a few seconds, and I narrowed my eyes in confusion. I fought the urge to stick my hands up and jump up and down to catch their attention.

I couldn't stop smiling as I watched Jieun from where I stood. Pinching my arm and then rubbing it furiously as I realized I wasn't dreaming, I looked both ways for cars then painstakingly picked my way across the first lane.

To my shock and horror, Jieun stalked angrily away from the man and onto the street without paying any attention to the traffic she was about to be amongst.

"Jieun!" I yelled, tipping forward into a run. She froze and watched as the driver blared his horn and stomped on the brakes, the wheels screeching in protest from the sudden change in momentum. A split second later, I rammed into her, sending her sprawling but out of harm's way.

In the next moment, my world became a haze of pain.

IU's POV

My forearm burned as I slammed into the dirty pavement, my vision turning red at the edges as my arm screamed in pain. Behind me, I heard the dull sound of a heavy impact, and my blood turned to ice in my veins.

Gritting my teeth and sitting up, I crawled forward to the crumpled figure of Jungkook. My vision tunneled as I gently cradled Jungkook's head in my lap. There was no sign of blood, but that didn't mean there was no internal injury.

"Jungkook. Jungkook. Jungkook." I whimpered, everything inside me breaking down as the cars and people rushing around us faded into the background. His name streamed through my mind like a mantra as if chanting it would make everything ok.

"Hey, at least I found you." he croaked, his eyes fluttering open at the sound of my voice. He offered me a weak smile, then winced.

"You pabo. You big pabo." I sobbed, my tears dripping onto his face, running new tracks down to his temples.

A pair of hands pushed mine aside and checked Jungkook's pulse and breathing. At the contact, a protective surge overcame me.

"NO, STOP, GET AWAY!" I screamed, lashing out at whoever it was. Krystal came forward and restrained me, wrestling me into the ground as I struggled to get back to Jungkook.

"IT'S LAY! HE'S TRAINED, HE CAN HELP!" Krystal yelled over my hysterical screaming.

My strength gradually faded, and I stopped resisting against her superior grip and weight. Sobs wracked my body as I gave up.

Within minutes, ambulances had crowded the street, their bright, flashing lights making me dizzy. Jungkook was lifted into a stretcher with Lay barking orders and directing people. Krystal let me up, but still left a wary hand on my wrist in case I decided to bolt.

I watched as the doors to the ambulance were closed, and they rushed away, the cars clearing a path for them to let them through.

The sounds and colors dulled, and Krystal's gasp of surprise was the last thing I heard.
