The next day, tensions between Jungkook and I were so thick that a knife could cut through it. His cheek was slightly bruised, but otherwise, he looked fine. Seriously, his face is really thick.

Sadly, Suzy wasn't in any of my classes, or else I could've totally ignored Jungkook, and spent the time pestering Suzy to help me study for tests. Maybe.

What else that didn't help was presumably me being stiffer than ever, and him being stiffer and colder that usual, sitting with his perfect posture and his hands folded on the surface in front of him

During lunch break, Taehyung walked up to our desks and chatted a bit with Jungkook. I pulled out a book to read, not sure what else I could do to avoid talking.

After a while, I felt a hand on my shoulder and started. I'd been so absorbed in the book that I hadn't realized Jungkook wasn't sitting next to me anymore. Taehyung was trying to get my attention.

"Jieun-ah, how are things going? Crash into anymore strangers?" he said, grinning.

I put down my book. "Nah, I haven't had much cause to go sobbing around the school since then." I replied with my own grin.

"There's not much for me to do today. If you have some free time, do you want to hang out with me?" he asked, his clear gaze meeting mine.

I hesitated. Why did it sound like he was asking me out....? Then I dismissed the doubt. We didn't know each other well enough.

"My schedule is pretty loose. Sure. Let's do that." I said, feeling the excitement and anticipation starting to creep in. We continued to talk.

Just then, Jungkook came back from who-knows-where-jerks-go-in-their-free-time. I watched him out of my peripheral vision, giving Taehyung ninety percent of my focus as he started to describe one of his trips to me.

Jungkook didn't seem very interested in our conversation, and ignored us.

Something deflated inside me.

I watched as a girl walked over, clutching something in her hands to her chest.

"U-um Jungkook-ssi, I-I made something for y-you." She brought out a box and held it out to Jungkook, her hands trembling. "Please accept it!" She cried.

Jungkook winked at her (ew) and took it. "Thank you so much for this, and no need for the formality. We're classmates."

"A-Alright." the girl stuttered, turned even redder (if that was even physically possible) and quickly walked away with jerky, uneven steps.

Jungkook put the box on his desk and pulled out a book of his own.

I felt slightly disturbed after watching Jungkook accept the gift. It probably happens all the time, though seeing it in person made that feeling want to crawl up my throat. I crushed the evil emotion down and disemboweled it. I gave my full attention to Taehyung.

I discovered that we had many things in common in that short amount of time. Both our favorite colors are white, we both play the guitar, and we have similar taste in books and clothing too.

By the end of the lunch break, I was joking and laughing with him like we were old friends.

"Well, I'll meet you at the school entrance at the end of the school day?" he asked.

"Ne. But we need to make a detour to my home. I have a few things to check on." I said carefully.

"Arasseo. No problem." He went back to his seat and started organizing his materials in preparation for class.

"Sooo," drawled the annoyingly familiar voice beside me. "are you gonna go out with him?"

I nearly spewed my water I was trying to enjoy in peace (like that's possible anymore with this guy around. Aishhh) all over my books.

Giving him an incredulous glance, and wiping my mouth on my sweater, I said, "Anniyo. We're just friends. And even if we are going out, it's none of your business."

Something flashed through his eyes, and for a second, made me want to take back what I said.

Then, looking away, he muttered, "Fine."
