tongue-tied
words come out as nothing but
gasps of air
and strangled vowels
numb lips
do nothing to protect
your heart from saying
what your mind cannot
but when the tongue
is tied around the thought
of blissful ignorance
and your lips
are permeable
all the letters
come out of hiding
and out into the dark
